Even if the deal seems ok and especially if you compare retail price I would not do that trade. I have two steel Submariners and the black Daytona Ceramic and I would not swap my Daytona for any Sub!

If I had your watch, and was offered that trade, I'd naturally want it newer than 2009.

But for only 4k more, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I would do the trade. The Smurf is a cool watch.

Mmm...it would depend the condition of the smurf, for one thing. I see some PM pieces for sale here that I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole, regardless of price.

Upgrade to PM Sub and $4k cash, why do you needed to ask?

This... And I wouldn't do it. I don't like the flat blue, never really did. That blue annoyed was always a slow mover and I'm not a big fan today either.

No way, the daytona is so much more versatile and more comfortable on the wrist, plus it is a more complicated watch. Gold pieces usually don't perform well price wise, so it is the smurf that is way overpriced not the daytona. The fact that the other guy wants this trade should tell you that you are missing something

I agree. Like the others have mentioned, unless it's been beat up, that's a good trade for you.

I like the smurf and I think as long as condition is within nothing more than an RSC service I'd do it. I think if your willing to part with you SS daytona you end up with a great PM watch. I'd source a box and pay for an RSC service and have a watch to enjoy.

Good move given the market conditions, take advantage of it while you still can.
