Barely worth MSRP in my opinion having owned one in turquoise. So many black steel watches out there... I'd branch out. The sub is a keeper. Enjoy that beauty.

One of the best models in the current line up

In fact, one of the few I would buy

If I could afford both, I would get both. Boring? No. Classic? Yes.

The bracelet looks like a Sub, not sure how that would be under the radar?

You don’t need it. A Black Sub will fill everything. If off radar is the goal then forget Rolex and go off brand like a Omega for a different vibe and daily beater if that is what you are after. Perhaps a pre owned Moonwatch will fit the bill as they are cheap and plentiful but still has the horological heritage.

I would prefer a DJ or an Explorer if you had to go black dial again.

If your main concern is buying another watch because crime is on the rise I mean it’s of just as much value to a thief as the sub really a few k is a few k. Granted mayb not quite so recognisable but if you’re in fear whilst wearing it maybe just get a cheaper watch for a second watch.

You want under the radar, go GS. I mean let’s be serious any Rolex at their production numbers and general recognizability is not under the radar. I would also be looking at a watch with a date, there will be a time you need a date I can promise you that. If fashion is the priority I can see the case for no date, but I wear watches for function and looks secondary so date is a necessity.

It's a very nice looking watch. Clean appearance and could wear every day. The perfect complement to your sub.

Back in 2020, it felt underwhelming and generic when I tried it on at the AD. I could have bought the blue dial but passed. Shortly after, I reconsidered and took the yellow one home, as it was a bit more out there. I ended up selling it shortly after. This was before it shot up in value. The yellow dial couldn’t make up for the overall bland look, to me at least. There are watches I love which other people see as very boring and vice-versa, so YMMV.

As noted on page 1,it still says Rolex on it, is a bit boring, and not real different from the sub.

I suggest a speedmaster instead.

I was just about to suggest this IWC, albeit the Le Petit Prince version. Super watch, very wearable, goes on everything, available under MSRP, cheap to service!

i don’t think there is an under the radar rolex anymore. the oyster band alone gives it away and these people doing the crimes know what they are looking for

Talk me out of my next purchase

Hate double markers at 3, 6, and 9 which is enough for me to stay clear no matter how good or bad the rest is. In this case the rest is neither outright ugly nor attractive in any way. Just as boring as they come.

I much prefer the Explorer and I also prefer my Mark XV on the fabulous pyramid bracelet for a do-it-all beater for which I also prefer to have a date function.

The black OP41 is just beautiful. A classic. I recommend it to alternate it with the Sub.

I will also be traveling a lot for work this year. So finding something that I can wear for work events (suit and tie) would be nice.

I’ve already spoken to a few watch friends and they all called this watch boring.

Thoughts?

Boring is definitely the right word. There are so many watches, for far less money, that are just as boring as this one. Seems like a waste of money!

Just do it and don’t regret. Friends and family come and go but watches always on wrist

OP41 is a great watch. If your friends think its boring they probably have no clue of the history of the watch, or are simply not watch nerds.

I too have an OP41 and a Sub. They both get pretty much equal wrist time. Both are great watches. If funds permit, I'd go for it.

Lots of good advice already and since this thread was started in June, it's possible you may have already purchased something. What did you end up buying or are you still on the wait list for something?
