New Breitling Launch This Weekend

That was a short run for the previous edition. Not sure I like the Tiffany dial fad but that one looks sharp, may pick up the Kelly slater version, I've always wanted an orange diver. I hate to spew the typical hodinkee comments but it seems kind of expensive for what you get, but I suppose everything is more expensive these days.

I actually like what Breitling did here. Something fun and something that doesn't look like every dive watch out there, while keeping with their history. I also enjoy the seconds hand and the lack of a counter weight.

Georges Kern has done some amazing things while at the helm of Breitling, and I am happy with the releases and redesigns he has undertaken.

They look great and wear super comfortably. The 44 wears like a comfortable 42, and they’re nice and slim.

I like the blue one the best, I’m considering picking one up just because it’s so damn weird and fun. I don’t have anything remotely like it in my collection.

The price is in the build quality and finish. It's a fun summer watch and it serves its intend perfectly for me. Would have liked a date but agree the design is better without it.

This is spot on. I tried on the 42 blue dial on strap yesterday and I was shocked how small it looked on my wrist. My regular wear is a Sub Date 126610, and according to the inter webs, the top-bottom-width dimensions are almost exactly the same between the two, except the Breitling is a 42mm dial and the Sub is a 41mm dial -- in other words, I was expecting the Breitling to seem a titch bigger. And yet while the Sub looks just right on my wrist, the Breitling looked tiny for some reason, even though the lug-to-lug dimensions are nearly identical.

The watch felt great, though, and I really liked the strap. Perfect casual watch. I now have the 44mm on order.

I had the exact same reaction. My daily watch is a 124060 which fits me perfectly, but the new 42 Superocean seemed too small, the 44 feeling perfect.

Congrats on the 44, looking forward to seeing photos when you take delivery!

Correct, but just as a side point, the *ahem* "in-house" B20 movement in the SOHII isn't a Breitling in-house movement. It's Tudor's MT5612 with the silicon balance spring swapped out for something much less anti-magnetic (for some truly bizarre reason known only to Breitling!)

Breitling still haven't managed to come up with their own 3 hander despite it being 13 years since they introduced the excellent B01. All very odd.

Agreed. Massively over-priced for the specs when you consider the competition.

Probably because the dial real estate is so small?

Could be. I'm no expert, but I assume when a watch manufacturer talks about dial diameter, they mean the dial itself -- that is, not including the bezel. In that case, I struggle to see how a 41mm Sub date looks so much larger than a 42mm Breitling Superocean when the lug-to-lug dimensions are nearly identical (off by .1 mm). I guess it's possible the bezel size makes the difference, but that seems unlikely ....
