You have declined and not an issue. Keep us posted on the progress with the AD and when you are offered the GMT.

I would not have declined. But I love the two tone sub anyways
If I were you I would have gotten the sub, then you’d have at least 1-2 years wait for the Pepsi. Then once you get the Pepsi you can always sell the sub (hopefully it was worn but not abused) and get 90-% of your money back. Without any purchase recently, asking for a Pepsi is not likely going to happen anytime soon. If you were her, would you sell to you or something that has purchased the sub from you? That being said, miracles do happen and I hope you get your Pepsi. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

I can see the view point of "not buying what you don't want". But I think another perspective is, "why not?". You never tried it, its sort of like being in a restaurant and the attendant informs you that the special today is ABC. I usually try what they recommend and sometimes Im dissapointed, sometimes its awesome. If the SA wants to recommend a 2-tone, why not give it a go? Its not like the Pepsi will suddenly come straight after. You will have a few months to enjoy the 2-tone but also probably accelerate the pepsi incoming at the same time. When the Pepsi comes, you now have 2 solid Rolexes.

Sometimes there's room serendipity in life. Along the lines of when life serves you lemons, make lemonade. I wanted a colorful dialed OP and was offered the silver dialed one. I had been really wanting a larger sized OP and I took it when it became available. It may not have been the exact one I was after but it's an OP41 which I've been really wanting for a while. The point is sometimes it's worthwhile taking what life has to offer. With Rolex buying at MSRP can be a pretty good deal. If the absolute watch I want comes along then I'll be ready for it and perhaps move on something else or end up with multiples. These aren't bad options.

Don't worry, ADs are used to folks declining two tone watches all the time. Seems like she was having a tough time moving the TT sub.

Don’t buy the Sub that you don’t want. Wait for the watch you want from the AD.

If the OP doesn’t have spending history, how does he obtain a Pepsi if everyone tells him not to settle for a watch he doesn’t want? OP’s wish list is unrealistic, if he sticks to his guns and waits. There’s tons of people who are asking for the same pieces, how does AD/Sa pick the OP if he doesn’t spend?

buying whatever is offered is insane IMO. It doesn't curry any favor, except for perhaps some vague "best efforts" sort of blandishment. There never is any kind of concrete assurance coming from them in exchange for a buyer's thousands of dollars. So buy what you want, and if that isn't possible for the time being, enjoy the additional money in your pocket.

[QUOTE=Krdonnel;12322362]I’ll qualify this post by saying this will be my first purchase from an AD. I bought my wife a beautiful older reference yellow gold datejust w black dial and diamond markers a few years back for the birth of our daughter but nothing new. My son was born 9 months ago. I went to the AD about 2 months before he was born to pick one out and realized very quickly it wrong time to buy 😅. I’ve been keeping an eye on the market since and decided to visit my closest AD and at least get on the interest list. I’ve settled on a Pepsi GMT w Jubilee band. I’d like to buy a watch or two a year and set aside about 20k +/- for this year. Ultimately would like the GMT and an OP or two or GMT/other Sport model combo.
Th AD was super friendly and we chatted for a good while. I told her the above and that I realize the state of the market currently. She took my interest list and asked my thoughts on a two tone Daytona or Sub. We discussed those for a bit and I honestly don’t mind the look of the two tone on the sports watches. I stopped back in about two weeks later and we chatted again for a bit. Again, super friendly. She asked me again my thoughts on a two tone Sub (YG/Blue). Again, beautiful piece but would like the GMT as my baby boys piece and I’d like to get another piece or two in the next several months (if possible). 16K for the two tone Sub would eliminate any GMT for a while and possibly any other piece for a bit as well. I left after more small talk and didn’t think much of it. A week later (today) she called and offered me the two tone sub. I’m absolutely torn. It is genuinely a beautiful piece but the GMT is what I’ve had picked out for the boy for a year now. On the other hand, who knows how long before I even get a chance at a GMT (or any other combo of pieces) and I don’t wanna pass this up and the AD be reluctant to offer what I’m looking for. I honestly don’t think they would do that but it’s in the calculation. Anyone received a GMT lately? How long did you wait? Thanks for listening to the rambling first QUOTE] OP, I’m a little confused. You say you like the Bluesy but told the SA that but then you don’t buy it when offered. I think she’s confused too. Getting a BLRO is nearly impossible for your first piece. |

I’d buy it and wear it until I get the call fro the GMT. Then decide to either keep the Sub or sell it. Easy

It is a game, take what you are offered with a smile on your face. You can't build history with the AD by talking to her every two weeks. Buy whatever she offers you until you get the one you want. If you want to do the right thing, purchase what you don't want and offer it for sale to TRF members at retail price. You will get your purchase history and make some TRF members very happy.

I think declining a TT is usually not met with too much blowback.
But a TT Sub in today's market is decently popular, I'm sure your SA can find a buyer rather quickly... I would acquire it personally to accumulate towards your spending history and show your AD that you are serious. Honestly getting any sport watch at MSRP is a treat... There are a few exceptions but a TT sub is not one of them. |

I'd get the bluesy - keep it and wear it. Beautiful watch. Then you'll be getting the pepsi faster.

I would get to bluesy. Would be very hard for them to get you a GMT as a first purchase. I’m sure you’ll love the bluesy! And if you don’t, spend some time with it then sell.

I'd wait 100%. It's just a watch and if you don't truly want it... It's a huge buyers remorse and stress to deal with getting rid of it. Everyone right now thinks i gotta have it, the market is so tight! NO you don't have to have it. wait, it's a bubble and soon the AD's will be begging people to buy because the economy has tanked.

I think it’s not so bad after all to try something totally new and different if you can afford it. I know it’s not nice though because it almost seems like one is exploited because of their desire but there’s a possibility you might end up loving it.
