Thank you, agree, very difficult. I had hoped to jump the list by a few guys, but thankfully, my AD pushed me to the top!!

Nothing like buying a piece you truly want from AD.. I’ve be fortunate enough to experience that many times - and I’ve got my stainless steel Daytona as one of them HOWEVER— I have the black dial (love it) but the white dial is an absolute grail watch of mine and favorite .. even though I’ve got a platinum daydate40, and other far more expensive watches that’s just got nothing to do with it .. white dial Daytona is just that one for me and I really hope it will finally soon happen for me
Thank you!! I hope you score yours soon.

No, perhaps it was an "Exhibition Watch" I can't imagine a BLRO sitting in the case for longer than three minutes. My AD told me he can sell 300 if in inventory.

I was talking about the meteorite dial blro. :)

The one I seen was not in the case, or even offered to me... LOL

My SA brought it from the back to show me. Seem Rolex must have let a few of these out recently. Anyhow, congratulations on the purchases !

Fantastic story and photographs!

Glad you ended up with the BLRO. When you understand what the watch was originally designed for, and the rationale behind the colours on the bezel, you realise that’s it’s actually one of the ultimate “tool” watches!

Great to have that photo of your Dad.

Out of interest, the aircraft he is disembarking from is an early Vickers Viscount, 700 Series. The oval doors are something of a giveaway..!

Wow!! Dave, you know your aircraft!! Thank you for the info and adding to the provenance of the pic. I waited a year for my SS Pepsi, and during that time I watched every YouTube video on the watch. Once I realized the connection between Pan Am and Rolex, that gave the watch personal relevance. My parents traveled Pan Am exclusively and seeing that Pepsi bezel opens up the memories of traveling with them, and running around the Clipper Clubs!! Cheers to The Rolex Pepsi, and memories!!

Guilty as charged!

My late Father flew Viscounts so I grew up around them. Almost unbelievable that the type first flew as far back as 1948, and later versions were still in operation in the 2000’s!

The Pan Am guys who came up with the concept of the GMT Master knew exactly what they were doing. As is so often the case, something designed to meet a serious need, will end up being more of a classic, than a concept dreamt up by a watch “stylist”!

One of my Fathers friends was a Test and Development Pilot for English Electric, and latterly The British Aircraft Corporation. He was part of the Concorde team at one time, and as Rolex were then still promoting watches, rather than rationing them, they were all given GMT Master’s by Rolex.

Congrats for the acquisitions, especially that meteorite! I do appreciate the colours on the GMT bezel because it allows me to discern day or night at a quick glance.
Wear them in good health!

Thanks, Michael. I'm sold on both Pepsi's, they're getting all my wrist time.
