Larry, thank you so much for this information.. May I ask how come that a crystal is bending at 1700 feet (according to the adv.) ? I know that metals (case back) may bend but the crystal ??
How much is the thickness of the DSSD case back?

So I should be able to wear either in the shower, eh? Seriously, thanks for the work you put into this article and for providing me with a greater depth of knowledge. My watch IQ is growing.

I wonder if putting an aftermarket sapphire case back would increase the depth rating?

I too always found this humorous. Dimpled crystal, bent case back and ....if it had a movement in it that would have been crushed (but not wet!) Funny. Bring that to RSC and you'll be replacing the whole watch.....less the bracelet!

Great info. very detailed .One question ,is there any way to get a 14060 to sit lower any alternative case back options that would fit it if one is not worried about high pressure rating? I like the way my Tudor sits lower than my 14060 as an example. The observation backs are they thicker or thinner? Thanks

Just had s chance to browse your post. As I swim a fair deal and had a less than exact understanding of the non sub models, the detailed scientific explanation which you've provided saved me from even considering the oft asked insipid question.
Much thanks |

very cool info! I was wondering about the water depth capabilities of the explorer 2. it was my favorite rolex model until I saw there was a no date sub.
