It depends what you want. While PM is very nice and the WG BLRO w/ the blue dial is lovely, I personally think that stainless is a better material for a watch and is one of the optimal materials for a watch that you plan to wear every day that is going to get beat up.

Wow congrats - happy for you. How do you like the meteorite dial? Can you send a photo? I kinda dig the heaviness as well when I tried it on. Totally get the “feels cheap” part .

Interesting! Wish I had a friend willing to trade this

Why? Any specifics? Would be my first PM Rolex

All ceramic trade - on oyster - I would basically just be getting some more heft and a new dial

Finds it too heavy and bought it just because it was available. He wants to jump on the SS hype.

I don’t mind the heaviness and kind of dig the blue dial.

Newness wearing off means you take it for granted. Not good or bad, it's that it becomes just a watch to tell the time with. You might start to favor the variety you could have had with the SS GMT and another cool watch together.

I’ve change my mind. Even though I think you are stealing the WG from your friend, I’d rather keep the SS BLRO and take that 10k+ and get another watch. As others have suggested.

A nice vintage Sub with a matte dial would pair well with the modern Pepsi.

Very tempting for the navy blue dial, but I think I'd keep the SS, perfect as is.

I wouldn't because the blue and red bezel looks nicer with the black dial. The money saved is really better spent on another nice watch.

Excellent advice. I thought the GMT variant was WG? OP, did you mean to say WG? The WG for instance will be heavier and more prone to scratches since it’s much softer than steel. You should ensure you will be ok with that. :

One of the reasons I’ve kept my 116719… most people assume my WG Pepsi (blk dial) is the SS oyster model.

Definitely not. For a watch that looks nearly identical to yours and a $10K-$15K hit on top. Not to mention the white gold version will likely decrease in value while the SS will likely appreciate.

Absolutely not. Gold is nice when it's actually YG or RG. This is WG, hardly a difference to SS and it's a softer metal meaning it will get beat up more. Plus the blue dial honestly doesn't look as good as black. So you gave an inferior metal and dial for 15k more? This is baffling. If it was the meteorite dial, sure.

Wow! What a beauty - stunning - wear it in good health. Love the royally blue dial - this is what is kinda pulling me towards this reference.

Trade didn’t happen yet. Still thinking about what to do…

So you are a veteran to this kinda trade. Seems like it was worth it! Photos please

I would like to know more: Which references did you trade and what metal Paul Newman did you get? What was your biggest surprise after trading? What is your argument on trading the harder SS vs PM?

I'd never trade any of the marquee SS Rolex models for PM. Just because it is more expensive, doesn't make it better. Rolex is all about SS sports. For PM, go upstream.

I'd love to be like that.

I'd love to be able to just choose the watches I like.

I'd love to be able to think, "I want a PM, so I'll look at Patek."

I don't work like that at all. The watches I like seem to just ... grow on me over time, and then that's it: they're the only ones I want. There are no alternatives. So if I happen to like a Rolex PM watch - yes, even though Rolex is SS at its core - then only that PM watch will satisfy.

i was in the exact same position 2 months ago. had the jubilee ss pepsi, and had the opportunity to trade up for the gmt meteorite. did it and have zero regrets as the dial is special.

if it was for the blue dial, i would keep the SS model

Tough call. I don’t think you can make a bad decision. You’ve already got an awesome watch and if you do the trade you’ll have an awesome watch and effectively have paid like $10-15k under retail for it. I guess it comes down to what you want in your watch. Do you like the SS for its durability and other reasons, or do you want the heft of a PM piece? I know I want to add my first PM Rolex in the future, likely in white gold as I like how understated it is and really only I (or other watch enthusiasts) know what it is. I don’t like getting rid of watches though, I like adding. Is it possible for you to keep your SS Pepsi and put the $10-15k towards a completely different PM piece? I understand that would mean spending an additional $25-30k though, maybe even more.

I went the other way. I owned the WG BLRO and moved to the SS BLRO on jubilee. The blue dial is nice and I get the PM Rolex thing but it basically the same watch just in a different metal, blue dial not included in the conversation. No regrets on my part and I admire the WG version from afar. If you are in the BLRO at retail or a decent price then the upgrade on a dollar basis is a different discussion. I would trade my SS BLRO for the WG BLRO and 10k and have an equity position of about 15-20k. I would wear it for a minute and get the newness off and then sell/trade it for a SS BLRO and walk with 15-20k extra. Just the reality of it. Go for it. I don't see on the financial end that you can lose. Let us know what you decide.

A practical factor to consider:
It is heavy and that is not always a better or more comfortable fit. I personally like the 150g or less for a watch to not to aggravate me by the end of the day.
