Don’t like look on steel watch, same as the man with unboxing OP gold accents makes for very mature man look. I like sporty.

Rolex did do a handful of prototype blue dial subs. They are very rare...

I like it very much with the exception of the gold hands as already mentioned. Keep the original hands and do the dial swap--it could always be reversed if you find it doesn't suite your taste in the future.

^ This! It's your watch, modify it to suit your tastes.
One caveat to modifying a stock Rolex is that Rolex service centers may refuse to service it, so any customizing I do to my watches is easily reversable to stock.

I might not do gold hands, but the blue dial is pretty nice.
Maybe you could get an aftermarket dial, but once installed rolex will not touch the watch for service, so you'll either have to swap it back before sending it rolex or use an independent watchmaker, which you will have to use anyway to install a different dial. |

Not a fan, the original sub is an all time classic for a very good reason.

Back in the ‘70’s, Rolex allowed you to swap dials on a sub. My dad preferred the blue because he already had a black dial - his Speedmaster. I think it looks great on a 1680 but not sure it works on the newer versions.

I agree about the hands. The indices are yellow gold which is driving the color of the hands. I had considered having the indices changed but that is a big task. Not sure if any of this is worth it as I am a traditionalist and technically this would be a franked watch.

Minus the gold colored hands, it looks sharp. I don’t get all the fuss. As long as OP keeps the original dial, it’s easy to change back. Tough crowd.
