Even as an owner of the 114270 I’d say go with the new piece!

As others said, you’d know it’s history. But, beyond that, you’re probably looking at $750+ service in the near future on a “neo vintage”, so that eats into your savings going used.

Also, I highly recommend getting the full purchase experience for your first Rolex.

Other things to note, 72hr power reserve vs 48. The newer bracelets are more substantial for the money. The larger indices are beautiful AND if you care about lume, newer is a better bet. Lastly, WARRANTY for 5 years, to me that’s worth almost the whole cost difference!!!

In my mind the only con to the current model is the 19mm bracelet which only matters if you like easy changing.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love the 114270. But those are the reasons Id have preferred new. Mine was gifted to me by surprise so I didn’t exactly get the choice lol.

you cant go wrong either way. If you have not experienced the brand new rolex yet then I wiould suggest get the new and get the expereience. The added 2k is well worth the expereience as well as the better clasp and better overall watch. Also keep in mind a brand new watch should last you 10 years without servicing, so you save money there.

Daily wear piece?……. I’d go new for the modern construction and “improvements” like AR, lume, longer PR and warranty.

Have you had a close look at Tudor? They do a number of excellent neo vintage Rolex models.

Past that, regardless of what you are listed for, if you have a doubt there is no doubt. It could be that you haven't yet met the watch you really want.
