I have one serious question regarding this "idea":
Do I need to use some expensive plastic protector to protect the keys? Anyway, if you have the keys with you, you have no extra protection. If you don't, your wrist will be in more danger than ever. And my last comment, replacing the original Rolex clasp to this expensive... thing... well, this is probably the dumbest idea I've ever heard. |

No thanks.
If a thief wants my watch and they’re intent on getting it, I’m handing it over. No one dies or gets hurt over a watch |

If a thief yanks hard enough, he will probably break the spring bars anyway.
Then the bracelet will detach from the watch. |

I am more for a tracking device than something like this. Here take the watch, good luck!

For the locking clasp device, I am thinking that a nylon zip tie would do just about the same job? $0.02 vs $700. The "key" in your pocket would be nail clippers on your key ring?

My guess is most watches with a bracelet stolen from the wrist are forcibly removed. The thief pulls on it and a spring bar gives or the victim is physically attacked and the thief removes the watch or the victim hands it over. If physically attacked, not being able to easily remove the watch certainly has the potential for greater escalation and harm. |

Would you rather lose just your watch or your watch and your hand?

It is a stupid thief who tries to snatch a watch from your wrist.
The first thing you will face is intimidation from a couple of people. One standing in front of you and one standing behind you. At this time your diaper will be soaked and you would happily hand over your watch... If by some miracle you are still standing, then you will feel a strike to your head and now you are on the ground... The thieves will very simply take your watch off your hand as nicely as you take it off and walk... You will call the cops and when they show up, they will be laughing at you on the inside, thinking "here is a rich guy with first world problems..."... they will take a report and that would be the end of it.. THe cops are dealing with assaults against children and missing kids and a guy whining about his rolex is not high on their list, not high at all.. away. |

So many people on this forum live in a bubble and have no idea how desperate people can become when their back is against the wall, they have no money, and are in a bad situation. Fencing a stolen $5000 Rolex for $2500 is several months of lodging and food in some places. |

I dont know how practical thats going to be...
Sorry Mr. Robber my rolex doesn't come off. Doubt they'd believe you, and it might result in a new hole in your body that isnt supposed to be there lol. Better to just give them the watch and deal with the police report and insurance company. Better yet, just dont wear it in an area where watch crime is high! |

For the the clasp, if you forget the keys, a small screw driver to unscrew a bracelet link and you are free. |

If someone comes to steal my watch, I’m taking it off myself and throwing it on the roof of the nearby building. He’s not going up there to get it, but I can after he flees. Hurting me does him no good.

Insane. Do you value your watch more than your hand. Thats the question.
