The reason it was announced last week and before the season, was because that was the last day HAM had to exercise the exit clause in the 2 year contract he signed just last year. Without question, the internal team dynamics at both Mercedes and Ferrari will be interesting to watch this season.

In other news, currently over half the drivers on the grid (12 to be exact), do not have contracts to drive in F1 for 2025. This is going to be one of the silliest of silly seasons IMO.

Red Bull will have a meeting Friday with all it's top officials to discuss the Horner situation. Several reports out of Europe have written that there is a post Detrich M. power struggle happening between Horner and Dr. Marko... I can't imagine RBR getting rid of Horner when everything is running so smoothly coupled with the fact they are just over a year away from embarking on their own engine program....

With Adrian Newey's exit clause, it will be very difficult to make a good decision.

Back in the day the F1 drivers didn't look like boy band members.

Teammates Mansell and Rosberg 1985. Cool picture.

Going to Miami for round 6. For my fiancé and I, it’ll be our first F1 event. Looking forward to the trip and seeing where everything has shaken out at that point.

That sounds fun! Congrats on scoring tickets. If you both like it, I recommend Montreal for your next trip. It's a great (walkable) city with excellent (clean, safe, on time) subways. The circuit is on an island & there are many good stands to see the race.

They were men. We'll never see that again in F1. The sponsorship money rules must be followed.

Dr. Marko is well past his sell by date. I'm amazed he survived the Perez conflict with his, Marko's, overt racism. Time for him to go.

It could be that they think Horner’s success is now costing them US$7.5 million for the 2024 entry fee and they can pull some back by sacking him?

They are looking for someone who is not as good.

The HASS team’s cost is 1/10th of this and Mercedes is just over 1/2.

Well, one factor we must remember is that back in the day there truly was a very real risk of dying in the car. Engines exploding / fire, shock springs hitting you in the head, getting airborne... far less electronic (band)aids. Risk factors were VERY real years ago, not so much today.

We do need an F1 Boy Band. Imagine the promotion possibilities and enhanced profits! Maybe Taylor Swift will date an F1 driver next?

The ESPN broadcast schedule for USA is in the article.

https://us.motorsport.com/f1/news/f1...espn/10579526/

For those who have ESPN+ you have the opportunity to watch F3 and F2 races as well.

This is exciting, like every year this first race gets me going with loads of enthusiasm and then it dwindles away as my team (Ferrari) implodes and by mid-season I am crying again hoping the next year is better. Loads of material to read and watch this year so far, its going to be a fun eventful season.

The Official Formula One Thread!

This is admittedly a self-serving post about up and coming young drivers in the FIA single seater ranks.

Logan Sargeant is the only American driver on the Formula 1 Grid but others are in the ranks of academies.

In F2, Jak Crawford and Juan Manuel Correa return. Could be a make or break year for their DAMS Team. DAMS has cred in the Paddock having helped Gasly, Grosjean, Sainz Jr. and others.

F2 Drivers:

In F3, Max Esterson debuts - interesting story of an iRacing/eSports pre-teen who shifted into FF and other seats. He’s based in GB now but a NYC native.

F3 Drivers:

Why go to these lengths? Well, some pride here. But also to give anyone who gets jaded beginning next weekend!

I encourage you to cheer on your county’s young drivers and watch the livestream in your zone (ESPN+ here, Sky Sports elsewhere).

The aggregated schedule is below.
All times are local Sakhir (AST/UTC+3)

Enjoy your weekends!

Wow, a very full day for the corner workers, video broadcast director, camera staff....

Paul, my wife just discovered the Netflix series (Season 6) and loves it. She's quite enthusiastic about this season.

There is a lot of talk about the 17 year old Andrea Kimi Antonelli (and how couldn't there be when your middle name is "Kimi" :rofl). A Merc driver who, depending on how he fairs in his first season in F2, could be a replacement for HAM at Mercedes works team. We'll have to see. Toto says he'll bring him along slowly so as to not overwhelm him. There is precedent, however on a certain current driver on the grid who made his debut at 17.

Naming themselves "Kick Sauber" somehow makes it seem like they don't want to be there.

I was truly hoping Brawn GP would come back and shake everything up. Sadly, F1 continues to be very boring, with predictable progress instead of any sense of a real 'revolution'.

jmho ... yet am sooo hoping Alonso earns another Driver's Championship. Show those kids a thing or two about top-level racecraft. :smoking:

I don't know why it always creates a double post when I post here. First it's very slow then the double post. Weird.

So ignore.
