Ah, well I guess if you do a lot of traveling, this card would really make sense (and could even be considered a bargain).

Unfortunately, I do not live that life!

Goggle AMEX Black Card and you will see it went from Urban Legend to reality and is mostly for show and tell. Since I hate all forms of credit, I just carry around deeds to show off. Hey little girl, would you like to see the deed to my doublewide.

I need to start doing that, except my wife would kill me for showing the deeds off.

I'm not a big believer in credit cards so I own one Visa card and that's it!!!
I was taught that you do without until you can pay with cash.....

I buy everything with a credit card.

Why?

Insurance!

Savings by buying online!

I'd rather use the bank's money by giving them a PIN than my own by using my debit card...the bank will be more inclined to recover it should the deal be screwed over.

I use my credit card and then pay them off!

Jim, the key is to pay off your credit cards every month. When I buy on line I use my one card and then pay it off. This way I do not owe interest and as you said have a record of the transaction. But I know in this day and age the pressures that be want you to use credit. But to me cash is still king!!!
Also I am totally debt free.....

Lets see? I have three ex-wives, a current wife, and four kids to put through college before I die. Do you call that debt or baggage?

Great news! Hubby had his 6 week checkup with his surgeon, and things look good. He still has some post surgery pain, but his x-rays look excellent and the doc said that his recovery/prognosis is "better than most".

They want him to wait another month before getting on his bicycle, though.

I do that! I'm a firm believer in "whatever I can get for free I take!"! One of my credit cards is used for all kinds of things, including our phone/cable/internet monthly bill etc. We just pay it as we go, but in the meantime, every year at Christmas time we end up with approximately $400-$500 in free groceries! I used my Sears Mastercard for a number of things and had enough points to get us $200.00 off our new snowblower, and still had enough points to get the snowblower cover for free!

From what I've seen, cards with an annual fee often offer a much lower interest rate.

There's GOTTA be some banks in the U.S. that have cards that offer "free" SOMETHING! I'm currently using my American Express card to collect Air Miles so when my son, his wife and the kids come here in September for my youngest son's wedding, it won't be as expensive! Any little bit helps!

There are tons, but I hate to wade through all the offers and terms. In the past, the ones I've seen had too many restrictions or fees to make it worthwhile. Bah.

yes, I know I am too simple minded to analyze all of the different offers, fees, rewards, what have you. I just stick with one card, pay it off every month, and don't give it another thought. Don't care what the interest rate is. It doesn't cost me anything to use.

I don't have a life, so I have all kinds of time to analyze things.

Caroline, sounds like your husband got great news and getting on a bicycle in another month won't be to bad. He still has the whole summer and fall to get in his exercise!!!

Lisa, I consider you to be quite intelligent but do understand about not wanting to wade through all the credit card offers. I think I'd rather pull out a toenail then analyze all the different offers!!! LOL!!!
