As you've likely already gathered, it won't be a product announcement. Cook has already intimated it will be related to the events that transpired last week. My hunch is $AAPL will outline a new policy to release information about people who broke into the capitol building. Perhaps even a new declaration that they'll go as far as to release iCloud location data for any future insurrection, riot, or violent unrest? Speculating here, admittedly.

I'd expect $AAPL to take a hit, as did $FB today - but good time to leg into positions if you want to hold long term.

I doubt this is the news as AAPL are the one company that I think would definitely not release personal info/tracking like that no matter what crime you did, goes against their ethos.

How about good old General Motors trying to be a “growth” company. At least CEO Mary Barra appears to have the huge titanic of a company trying to evolve.

Good for them. Long way to go & uphill but it’s a good direction.

Now if Ark ever buys GM stock... ha.

most likely something along those lines. people are really shooting for the moon here and thinking it's some kind of electric vehicle announcement/acquisition. i think most people know apple too well at this point though and it'll be something much less drastic

They will say that they are suspending political donations. It will save them a lot of money and now they have a good excuse.

I think many of the long APPL shareholders here knew exactly what you meant. We know exactly how Cook slices by now as CEO ;)

SE and PINS continue their rise up; hoping Pinterest can be a 3-bagger for me by the time earnings comes around. Still a lot of ground to run for these two, as SE has acquired its digital bank license in Singapore (while acquiring a bank in Indonesia to help further push this out) and PINS starting its breakout from the 68-73 range its been stuck in the last few months.

Looking for a bounce in big tech today; while I don't own TWIT and I wouldn't call it big tech, an upgrade today for them due to overblown reactions to recent events should cause the likes of FB and others to rise...one would think.

I’d also like to see some of the big tech names bounce from here. I think, as I’ve mentioned, that some of the selling pressure in Twitter and FB, was overdone. FB held support ~250. A bounce here would be nice to see. I have no position or interest in Twitter; but I do own FB and think their advertising business is a powerhouse that should only continue to grow.

I’ve been trying to reenter SE, kicking myself a bit. Can’t decide if I should bite the bullet and pay current prices or hope for a better entry.

INTC getting a nice move higher after the CEO is stepping down.

I am long INTC and have been for years, I will continue to hold INTC

I'm long FB and bought calls yesterday in it. The downward pressure will subside in the next few months, as it always does.

There will be pullbacks in SE - like all stocks - and I don't know that the chase here is right. I would keep an eye and add on dips though, as I have been since I started in the 80s.

As stated, the MGNI "fraud" news last week was by a noted short seller, and the stock continues to rise back up from the massive move down.

Still a great looking stock for the future of Connected TV. TTD just came out with news the other day that 27% of homes plan to cut cable in 2021 (we just cut ours late 2020 for the first time ever), and let's not forget about WB releasing movies via HBO streams. CTV is here to stay, and TTD / MGNI will be benefactors of that over the next few years.

Adding AMD on recent dips and news of INTC CEO change (finally!). AMD will continue to chip away INTC market share no matter who is CEO, they are just so better poised for future growth and tech advancement of their chips.

Coincidentally, I was texting with 4 good friends earlier today about the same. Note: we have been very LONG Apple. Bought our stock many years ago. Very happy with ROI.

The exchange went something like...
—-
I can’t imagine where Apple would be if Jobs was around longer.

Maybe they would have did a Tesla partnership or entry in a totally different market. Long shot though.

Jobs recommend Cook the job because he’s a great bean counter & manufacturing / logistics guy. Then made sure to surround Cook with great innovators + design people. Most not with Apple anymore. E.g. PitA Tony F wIth Nest. Also, Apple TV could have been a game changer early on.

Cook is a CFO, not CEO who needs innovators around him like many CEOs but Apple is different. Isn’t a CEO of an ‘innovative’ company supposed to be creative themselves?

Anyway, summary of a text between friends. Hindsight is 20/20 and it’s easy to nitpick.

yeah jobs was an innovator and constantly pushing apple to do something ground breaking. i feel like cook was a really safe person to put as the ceo because he can take an already top tier established company and push it forward and happened to come in at the perfect time to allow for growing it in a conservative way. he basically just had to take their existing product lines and continue to modernize them and i guess he wasn't expected to do much else. i can't really think of anything they've innovated in recent years besides airpods. i think them ditching intel for their own cpus is huge though

Is GME exploding today because of the long awaited short squeeze? I can’t find any news as to why it’s up 70%+ right now.

I would presume a combination of that, and the wallstreetbets/RH crowd flooding it in expectation of said short squeeze.

Way to play $GME is with options, IMHO. *Or any meme stock like $PLTR $NIO $DKNG — I took my money and ran with Gamestop. I suspect it could break 40 by EOD, but no sense in getting greedy if it falters. Closed my calls for a nice small win. (Had a tiny position, as it's just speculation fun money)

Good luck to all if you're trading it.

I think it it depends on your time horizon. Short term, I think we see downward pressure on $FB $TWTR and $SNAP as the country pushes for more legislation and moderation, given what we saw last week. As more conservatives also itch to find their own platform, you have to imagine the MAU's may see a small dip.

I'd be happy to own Facebook at a discount, (long term) so my way to play it is to SELL the 230's and 240's puts for June and get paid to wait for a pullback. Then obviously hope to get assigned with cash on hand. Worst case, I miss the run and keep the premiums.

Lol. My son said he wanted to buy Game Stop stock last month. Guess he heard a YouTuber talk about it during console review & was the same today it was talked about on CNBC that I overhead.

So I bought a single contract on 12/23 since the company doesn’t appeal to me.
Something is better than nothing.

100% pure luck.

i had a few jan 15 calls, strictly for fun in the event that this happens, that were down 90% at one point after earnings and i ended up selling at break even like a month ago. would've been up 7-10x today. hurts but it happens

I think what people are missing here with INTC announcing the new CEO they hired from VM WARE is a MASSIVE oversell in VM WARE and Dell. Mostly because the fact VM Ware did not announce a new CEO and DELL is majority stakeholder in VMW. Zero reason for this stock to be down 8% today and I suspect announcement of new CEO will stabilize the stock. Very low forward PE of 19 (especially for tech) 4.99 p/s, small float and high institutional ownership. Added to jan 2022 140C (down 32% TODAY when the stock is down 7%), IV compression and will DCA over the next month if it trends downwards. Also, I suspect once VMW finally spins off of Dell it should be another catalyst to push the stock higher.

Hopefully some of you are ridding my BBBY calls from a few weeks back, stock was $18 and now trading near 23.16 as their ASR continues and is due to complete by end of Feb.

Looking at entry into ED 2022/23 LEAPs as Manhattan isn't going anywhere and these are dirt cheap, same with KMB which appears oversold and can't imagine people will stop buying diapers/toilet paper etc. Anyone else in ED or KMB?
