I have met a few diamond graders myself, both from G.I.A. and A.G.S., they all say thats its impossible to accurately grade diamonds that are mounted.

I asked someone at the Rolex service center in Ny.Y. this question and was told the diamonds are IF grade (internally flawless).

again, i will ask the question - is the jeweller you mentioned a qualified and certified diamond grader, which can be reconginsed. If not, it is just an opinion or piece of paper not worth anything and it doesnt matter how good he/she is and how powerful the loupe is........

This is true as far as I know. To grade a diamond for colour/clarity is fairly simple and can probably be done by most jewellers withouth removing them (although it depends on the diamond/setting). "Certifying" a diamond through a proper process will always require removing of the diamond as they also need to run it through an analysis computer (of sorts) and they are required to laser inscribe it before they can issue a certificate.

I'm not an expert, but I am pretty sure of this.

Well the diamonds generally in watches are very very small,and even if flawless not going to makes tremendous value difference over say VS1/2 or VVS1/2...I am sure that Rolex can buy there diamonds much below some wholesale and retail prices.And most dials say have 10 diamonds and say .05 points each thats half a carrot around $600 max at retail prices

Thanks for the kind words, Steve. No matter how many times I try on any 36 mm watch, it still looks kinda small and funny on my wrist. Not taking any chances - been there, done that......and finally gotten rid of it!!
