I think you're seeing a YG Daytona with a champagne dial that has some reflected light hitting it at an angle. The sky backlighting caused a slight underexposure which could also have shifted the color balance.

Aside from the 'feel good factor' of owning a Rolex, on which I place a significant value, there are so many other ways to justify the 'high' cost of a Rolex if one so needs...

When you buy a Rolex, you are;

1) Genuinely supporting the fine watch industry and future development (based on Rolex commitment to re-invest profits in development)

2) Supporting worthwhile causes (based on the huge amount of funds committed to charity by Rolex every year)

On top of this, you are buying a 'feel good factor' that only comes with true quality, something which has an unquantifiable but undoubted value.

Oh, and based on anticipated future residuals, it's probably cheaper than 99% of watches!

So, is a Rolex good value for money...oh yes! And some!

I know the thread is 4 years old and I'm probably beating a dead horse but.... This question has many aspects to it. First off, I have a 62 year young Rolex oysterdate. Been through hell and back and just got serviced and looks like it just left the ad. Now I think the watch was in the $150-200 range when new, I've looked into it but not positive. Now had I put that same amount in my checking account and waited those 62 years my $200 would buy rather little today and definitely not a new Rolex. Now if I were to sell this Rolex that someone probably thought was a rip off back then I will get around $2,000..... Also what mechanical item could I have purchased then for $200 and gotten 62 years of flawless use and its still being used and is within a couple seconds accuracy a day, that's 99.99999%..... I think its worth every penny just buy used and you get even better bang for your buck and Rolex can't strictly control that end of sales. I'm surprised you can even purchase a Rolex on eBay with the way Rolex controls the market but you can..... Of course everything is up for interpretation but one thing holds true the cheap always comes out expensive

I have 4 Rolex and a JLC.

You can bash the stuffing out of the Rolex, you can wrestle a gorilla or fight with a boxer, the Rolex will survive it better than you. You could even take on a man eating squid at the bottom of the ocean and even if you end up going through its digestive tract, the Rolex will survive.

However give the JLC a tap and your first instinct is to check if it is still moving.

I would take the Rolex over a JLC any day.
