It's amazing how people think we buy a Rolex just to get noticed, show it off, flash it, prove we've made it or some other assinine reason. Granted , there are people like this but not our core people here. I could give two sh*ts who sees my watch or knows I have one. Why can't people buy something just because they like it? Tyler is 14 and he is mature enough to know what he wants not because of prestige, but because it smiles at him, it makes him drool, just like we did when we made our purchases for whatever reasons they were.

Is that why you always wear short sleeves, come rain or shine?

P.S. Sorry, couldn't resist!

No because our uniform shirts are Dutch made and they stiffed us on the rest of the sleeves.

No. I'm in Utica. It's about five hours upstate from the city. I'm about one hour east of Syracuse. Don't know if this helps. Are you in NYC now?

Utica, isn't that a State Prison? (Explaines a lot ). No, alas, I'm still in Rotterdam. But there's a 90% chance that we'll be there next year. We've been in NYC 4 times now and love it. Have been going a couple of times to Portugal after NYC and really love the atmosphere there, very relaxing.

As a relative newcomer to the world of watch collecting, I was unfamiliar with most brands of watches, but of course had heard of the Rolex brand when I started my watch researching about a year ago... now the first major watch I bought was an Omega Speedmaster Professional, a classic and unique watch that has remained unchanged for so many years and of course it's claim to fame certified by NASA for all space missions. Now I am ready to purchase a Rolex not because (after all my research) it is a prestige item, although that is not a negative in my eyes, but the model I am looking for is unique as well for it's depth rating, build quality and classic design. The Sea Dweller in my opinion is well worth the cost as it will last me a lifetime and will also give me value back as it will keep it's value.
Now you can argue that a Sub is not worth the cost due to the amount spent on manufacturing, but really if you are willing to pay then it is well worth it to you, and if you know nothing or are a watch expert and you pay, as you have admitted to doing UPYOURS, then obviously you are willing to ay for more than just the cost of production, you are willing to pay for the intangible aspect of a Rolex.
I don't need a Sea Dweller to impress my friends, or associates only myself!

Quite correct mate you buy things you like and want, myself have many brands from Rolex to Poljot, all are just as important to me.I don't wear a watch for prestige,or to show off to friends or colleagues. Most would not give a toss, anyway
on this forum we don't care what watches you own.As we talk
about and own many many different brands.

Ok UPYOURS if you "hate" Rolex why have you owned over six of them? Also if you think they aren't worth the money and are"crap" why have you blown thousands and possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars on them. I mean if I didn't like the watch I definately wouldn't buy a solid gold one for $20 thousand and up. I could buy a freakin car for that. Also I don't care about the prestige factor. If I thought Rolex was complete crap I would live with the two Seiko's I have, but I personally think that Rolex are some of the best built timepieces in the world. Built just like a tank. Sure maybe they are not finished as well as a PP, VC, AP, or UN but I want a watch that tells time, looks good, and is functional. I don't particularaly want to stare at the movement all day. If I did I would go by a well finished movement and hang it in a display case in my room. The reason I want a Rolex is because it appeals to me. Sure a $30 Timex tells time too. A bycicle gets you from point A to B just as good as your BMW does plus you get exercise while doing it. My final question to you would be this. Why are you such a hypocrite? And yes I am 14. Rant over.

The only problem is it is like pissing in the wind. People are people and some just like to rile up things. I like Rolex, I would not go to an Omega forum just to say Omega is no good, makes no sense pal.

Tyler, a word of advice, m'lad. Never argue with an idiot - he'll drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

14?! Good lord son you are wise beyond your years... you know what you like and would'nt go to a forum just to argue with people about why they should'nt like it... I guess age is not a reflection of wisdom.

Daren, why do you keep forgetting the "1" infront of the "399"? Remember, JJ's older than Yoda!

I love Mountain Dew. It's like half sugar and half caffine. The two basic food groups!

I'm learning slowly but steadily. Fourtunatley I don't get hyper off of sugar and caffine. I just can't sleep good when I have much of it. I am determined to prove that you need at least one Mountain Dew a day to get the previously mentioned two main food groups caffine and sugar. Woot!
