As far as platinum and WG goes, that's rarely confusing in the Rolex world. Any Platinum Rolex is way out of the Exp1 price range. And as far as I know except perhaps on platty models the hands on most models are either white or yellow gold.
WOW! That means bye bye Rolex for me :((((( If any one knows any model that has no gold on it, please post it or let me know!

One more thing and it maybe very silly and very stupid and don't laugh!! But do you think it's possible to like contact Rolex to perhaps make one watch with just no white gold on it but same quality? I could pay the same price as the white gold one any way. It sounds too dumb but whatever!

I edited my post after you replied but as I mentioned, my understanding is Rolex sells a lot of watches in Dubai. Since it's doubtful they are making gold-less versions of their watches for that market, I wonder what's going on there. But it might be worth investigating further. Try starting a thread asking straight up if there are any models with no gold whatsoever.

I doubt Rolex will entertain producing a one-off watch for you, but I suppose if you found a model that only had gold content in the hands you could swap those out. Seems like a lot of bother though. I don't know though. Talk to an AD, I'm sure you're not the first person to have a need for this.

Good luck with this, I'd be curious how it works out for you.

Thanks very much, you are really helpful! I will talk to an AD and see what they have to say. I won't lose anything by asking.

People in Dubai who buy Rolex are those rich people who are unfortunately not that religious or those who think the content of white gold isn't enough to make it forbidden for us. They probably think that as long as it's not full of yellow gold, then it's okay to buy it.

Not even Dubai only, many people have this confusion. They think a watch has to be entirely made of gold (especially yellow gold) in order to be forbidden. And that's NOT true. Even 1 % gold white or yellow make it forbidden. And I'm a religious person and won't choose a Rolex over my religion obviously.

But yeah you do make a good point, thanks again!

The ADs in Dubai probably do pretty well from the tourist trade as well, probably a lot like Las Vegas in that regard.

There are many here who know more than I do however and I'm not 100% certain, so it might be worth starting a thread and asking if any models come with no gold.

My white-faced Explorer II has black indices and hands, so I assume those aren't made of white gold and then blackened...

The vintage submariners with matte dials don't have any gold content. They don't have the white gold surrounds on the dial around the hour plots and the hands are not white good either. I'm just sayin'..........

I do get some looks when i'm wearing the Sub C and the PO but not the other watches because no one really knows what they are. My Explorer II arrived today and I have not worn it in public yet so I cant say if its an attracting to any one as yet. Being 21 should be no problem. you may ask where in the world would you get the money for all them watches i own but the fact is my gran passed away and left money in her will saying,"spend this money only on what you want most".

Olly.
I can't think of anything better to spend the money on at your age to honest. It makes you happy and that's what your gran wanted. At least you're not p1ssing it up the wall, then again...
