I personally don't like to bank on anything just because it's LE. If I love the watch, then I will buy it no question as the production number on the case back is cool to have, it doesn't really sway me either way when deciding to pull the trigger on said watch.

AP spent a long time re designing the 44mm novelty roo as they have chosen this to be their new model for the long run.

Don't get me wrong, I love some LE AP's such as the shumi, RB II, end of days, survivor, and of course my favorite the T3 black dial. I love them for their originality and special details, not for their lower production numbers. I purchased a legacy last year and had it for 2 days and decided to return it in exchange for a 44mm RG novelty. I loved the look of the legacy regardless if it was less popular than other LE pieces.
But in the end, Not only did the size bother me for daily wear, but I also didn't want to justify spending that kind of money on ceramic, when I could have solid 18k pink gold as well as a watch that was more appropriately sized for daily wear. I for one love AP for their LE AP's, because I can't wait to see what they will come up with next. I just wish they would slow down on the amount of different limited editions they make.

To make an example about LE watches, Hublot (not saying AP is anything like Hublot) But Hublot makes so many LE watches, IMO I don't think any of them are that special because they make so many watches and call them all LE.

AP doesn't produce watches anything like Hublot, but I do wish AP would slow down just a bit so when they do Launch a new LE model, it will be even more special.

When only choosing one watch for daily use, I myself would try to think about more of a practical model, over more of a "fun" oversized model design, or one with a crazy color theme. This of course is all my opinion and not fact. Not about one watch being better then another because all AP's are excellent, just about which watch would better suit you for the cause.

I hear you, but watch models are worth what people will pay for them, and the Schumi has been flying off the shelf...

So has the 44mm RG novelty.. no AP dealer that I know of has one in stock and they don't even make it to the display case. My local dealer has not had a 44mm RG novelty in stock since I purchased mine Dec of last year. Only gets 2 or 3 pieces a year max.
In the end, it's a matter of personal preference as you cannot go wrong with either.

The point trying to be made here was you said the shumi is hard to get and fly's off the shelf. My response back to you was that the novelty RG 44mm is just as hard to get as the shumi at this juncture

its funny you mention the relative scarcity of the RG. i have only recently started paying attention to AP and have been visiting AD's to see the various models in person.

i guess its just been dumb luck but the last 3 dealers have all had the RG novelty - in fact, if you had not mentioned it, i would have thought the model was quite readily available! i guess i did not know how fortunate i was to see them in person and handle them.

If it was up to me I would pick up either a RG Schumacher or a RG Grand Prix both of which are limited edition and absolutely gorgeous!!!

AGREED! My hunt for one especially at any discount was TOUGH, even our online retailer friends didn't have any for a long time !!!

Every watch is limited production in some sense. There could be 20,000 of them out there or more by the time production stops...
