I do the same once a year for my license plates, wouldn't put a Rolex in there though.

Dish washing soap and whenever I feel like I use an inexpensive ultra sonic cleaner for the bracelets only. Just did all of mine and the two of the Mrs. Really like this job

It's the Ammonia in the Windex that's the problem.

Personally I get the effectiveness of the Windex, but the Ammonia probably has a negative effect on the seals which I think are made of Nitrile rubber.

There are a number of high quality glass cleaning products which are Ammonia free.
They are typically for use on windows with tint window film applied which Windex will damage over time.
