I find Hodinkee articles too entertaining written in ultimate candor form by the writers. I have never been in a situation where I would trade in any Rolex watches for but if I,had to buy one of these I,would pick the 40MM model

Honestly the 40mm is the perfect all around watch for that style. I find myself wearing it ALL the time. If I had the 36 I'd likely only wear it for formal events under a cuff, the 40 does it all..

+1...the goldilocks of the Oyster case. Also, while i love the innovations on the 40mm, i just can't handle a watch that can be seen and identified from 500 yards away. (Of course its always personal taste and imho only)

Nice article and agree that the 36 DD does not look small because of its presence.
But the picture from Chadri says it all, the 40 is the ultimate DD.

It may be the ultimate if you have a big enough wrist for it to be in balance, as in the photo, otherwise it looks like a sock on a dog's nose, ridiculous.

Everose chocolate dial 40 DD for me is a heavy and perfect watch. Been wearing it consistently for 4 weeks now and still have yet to have anyone notice or comment on it. Perfect fit for me though and I have just under an 8' wrist and about 6ft /195 lbs. I won't go smaller than 39mm or bigger than 42mm. I read the article and can understand the appeal of the classics but the modern 40mm size works well for my size/build and age.

In my most humble view, 36mm - 40mm is the perfect size for a mans watch.

The moment you go over 40mm, you start going into the "look at me" arena and at the moment it looks good, however in a few years time it could well look dated.

I have four Rolex, one 39mm and the rest are 40mm but I do think the 36mm DJ takes the prize for a classy look.
