Seeing the S-Class Sedan vs Coupe..
I definitely like styling of the Coupe better. Much more modern and sporty.
I really don't need 4 doors anyway plus the Sedan just looks a little dated IMO (from the outside). Like someone mentioned, it does have a chauffeur car type of feel...LOL
But the Inside is AMAZING on all these S-Class beauties.

#1 Contender right now is the S-Class coupe

S550 Cabriolet is also temping as I test drove and was AMAZINGLY quiet with top closed.

Audi is out for now, I tried to like it, but I guess not for me at this point in time.
BMW not out of the picture yet... Alpina B7 coming in to my dealer soon.

Alpina B7 would be my choice but I'm a BMW fan.

Does the S Coupe come in AMG trim?
That may be the winner.
Never drove an Alpina.

I am waiting for the B7 to come in before making final decision. My dealer will give me first dibs on it.
It's the FIRST arrival at my dealer of the new B7 model refresh. Person who ordered it got a Bentley so its mine if I like/want it.
I am also a BIG BMW fan having had 11 the past 8 years though a couple were short lived.
Unless the B7 delivers, looking like S-Class this time around. Maybe I just need a changeup.

Happy Thanksgiving!
This is the one hot on my radar... With sport package and styling.
Hoping to test drive this weekend along with many others.

I'm sure you will make the right call after the test drives. As for the comment about VW/Audi family, like previously mentioned, any brand will have compliants. Personally I do a ton of research on the cars I buy as I drive them past warrenty. I've always found my Audis, Porsches, Lambo to be extremely reliable. Buy the right models after doing the hw and you can't to wrong. Also owned BMWs/MB and same thing, the models I picked were extremely reliable even though I knew there were models that might have some more gremlins.

If you can live with 2 doors get a 2016 S Coupe and beat the dealer over the head in incentives and deals.

Don't bother with the B7, and I own a BMW.

The 760iM is coming out though, V12 is super tempting!

I'd go with the S550 Cabriolet, living in FL. Especially this time of year. Seems the best of all worlds. Comfort, fit and finish, power, room, ride and a retractable top for days like today. Happy Thanksgiving! Curious to see what you get.

Loyal MB owner for 14 years (CLK, SL, CL, S550 coupe), so I'm biased, plus I haven't test driven a BMW or audio, so I can't fairly compare... but... the S550 coupe.... it's obviously great looking body and IMO MB got everything right this time with the body style... yet the best is inside! The comfort and luxury is incredible! I Just drove mine from NYC to San Fran on I-80, all over California, and then back on the southern route, I-40 (ie, "route 66) put 12,000 miles on it in less than a year... best road trip ever! Wanna talk about comfort?

Hey Sorry,
That last post was a rant of my frustration with Mercedes of Sarasota and the lousy Lease numbers they came up with.
They absolutely would not budge either, so it was a no-go.
Decided to delete the post until I had an actual car.
Need to travel to other Benz dealers, just been busy and its an hour drive (instead of 15 min).
Also on the table is a BMW Alpina B7 coming in later this month I want to see.
AND a new 2017 Panamera Turbo that I just found is available.
Anyway search is not over and going to wait to see B7 and new panamera.
But S550 still currently the front-runner, just want to find a better deal.
I'll update as I get closer to decision

Finally finding a combo I can be happy about.
2017 S550 Coupes are not easy to find in my area (mostly 2016s).
Actually its the ONLY 2017 coupe (hardtop) within 200 miles of me. All others are 2016. I guess the 2017 coupes are just coming out (dealers have plenty of Sedans and convertibles).
Found one today with almost EXACT build I wanted!
As long as they give me a good deal, I am taking it!!
Driving down tomorrow, hopefully I'll be driving this home!

I'd grab a left over new 16--plenty out there (even my small local dealer has two) and serious deals to be had. Basically same as 17.

Surprisingly not that many 16's at dealerships, but I have seen a few. Mostly black on black for some strange reason, which is the color combo I am getting out of.
You have more experience at this than I do, but it seems for a lease there are benefits to having a new year in depreciation curves if I turn in early. I remember one BMW I was looking at the previous year model ended up being a higher payment because of the residual, even though I thought would be a better deal. Of course a big discount would probably more than offset this, but I have not seen at 2016's within a 200 mile radius that excite me as much (color and option wise). The black interiors really don't pop nearly as much in the S-classes as the lighter beige and lighter color interiors in full designo leather IMO.
Anyway thanks for the feedback, your Cadillac looks awesome!!

I think the s550 is kind of the most obvious choice here as in normal guise it has very little sporting pretense unlike the other two.

I would hit cars.com and see where you have options. Enclosed shipping is inexpensive and easy. To save $10 to $20k I'd do it and always do on cars over $100k.

Trick if you're leasing as you know is not just money factor and residual, but actually negotiating the PRICE of the car upfront. Most people get wowed by lease payments vs the actual price of the car--bad move. That car new MB dealers have 12.25% to play with. On 16's that is substantially more. Negotiation is the key to any deal...put your emotions aside. Hell I'll walk from $3k on a deal if I have to...I'm not married to any car.

Good luck with your hunt and enjoy whatever you end up with.

Just don't do a video like this gal please :https://youtu.be/g72WeJWaBFU

^^^ Thanks Paul, I am taking what you say to heart.
I am waiting til Monday to go down and see if I can get a deal, otherwise I did find a 2016 with 3000 miles for only $108,000.
https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/l-Used...ting=156102154
Car Gurus is putting this at a Great deal.
Not quite as excited about color but its still very nice and low mileage clean carfax.
No designo seats, but has most other options.
And the sticker is $29,000 less. That's tough to unsee...LOL

^^ Now you're thinking smart. Offer $100k and be done.

If you have the patience, wait until new years eve to buy--seen some crazy deals fly that day.

We had a Maserati Ghibli S Q4 for our use a couple of weekends ago. I was surprised how much I liked it. I would go Audi A8/S8 for reliability, but really enjoyed pushing that car around. Loved the engine/exhaust note. Voted Audi however.

Which Car would you choose for comfort - BMW/Merc/Audi

Glad you are going with a Coupe! I don't prefer for black-on-black cars. The contrast from interior to exterior makes a big difference. Blue/Tan is awesome! I went through this a year ago and the S550 4-door was too big and I didn't test the coupe. Ended up with a BMW M6 Coupe and LOVE It! Great daily driver, fun/comfortable road trip car and has everything I was looking for in a new car.

Looking forward to your final decision and seeing your new ride!

Personally I would say S-Cab! I've had experience with the 7-series back seats on a few long drives visiting my dad in England. It was okay; but not as comfortable as I would have expected for the car. If you want something a little off the path, what about the E63 AMG wagon? Or maybe a Cadillac CTS-V Black Edition wagon? Space, Speed and Comfort! Happy Hunting
