I have a question for those that have the black dial version. In a lot of pictures it looks more like a dark grey. Is the dial a matte black that just looks grey in photos or is it truly more of a grey color?

I'm loving that blue one too.

Great looking watch Dick.

I stumbled on one of these listed locally with a brown dial last month at a steal of a price. I didn't grab it because what I really want is a black dial model. Now I'm regretting that decision.

I loved those black nipple dials... I missed out on the one you had for sale a few months back. The vintage bug didn't bite me till about 2 months ago... so I've been searching long and hard for a 1680 yg with pat bracelet..hopefully I'll find one soon..

Looks grey in photos.

But defiantly black in real life.

Outstanding diverdick. You know I can't help wonder if the vintage Rolex crowd truly groks this reference. I mean there's been some lovely 1680/8's posted here. Really spectacular watches regardless of production year. I'd be proud to own any one of them. Then however, there's yours (and mine), and a number of others posted on different threads over the years. You can count them on one hand. Of course I'm talking about the meters first dial. It's a watch that fills a special niche when it comes to vintage beauty, rarity and historical significance. Betweeen Antiquorum and Christies, I think 2 have been auctioned over the past decade. I think it was James Dowling who described them as rarer than hens teeth. Anyway, fantastic. Thanks for sharing!

Suggestions on refinishing the band. I have same model. Services at RSC NY 7-8 yrs ago. Headed to NY next week and thinking of dropping off for service as The less time in shipping the happier I am. Few small scratches on clasp. I posted pics on separate thread. Should I have them work on band?
