Now there's a post about John Mayer, who let's be frank, has actually said and done some pretty douchey things, and a single off-the-cuff comment about his objective douchiness raises more hackles than a bunch of homophobic nonsense about Ellen?

I guess we know where TRF's values lie when it comes to who is worthy of attacking or defending....
Never saw anything about Ellen. Love that she loves watches as well. I will say that’s one heck of a generalized assumption to throw st all of trf. Cmon man

This was just sitting in the case about a year ago

Glad I picked it up, it was between this or platinum Daytona. Seems like this is much more rare

Thanks for sharing the video. I really enjoyed it and I really like his music. My wife and I saw him in concert years ago and it was fantastic. I also really enjoy his knowledge and enthusiasm for watches. I wonder if in all of his Subs, Daytona's and GMT's if he has a random Air-King or Explorer.

Dead head here due to John Mayer only! What a collection! Gotta believe he owns way more watches than he has shown over the course of two shows with Hodinkee. Good stuff

John Mayer Talking Watches 2 interesting strategy

Absolutely wonderful! Thanks for sharing. At 20:10 he tells my story. “We buy a watch and then we say ooof. Ooof; how’m I going to explain this? We like the thrill of it, in the moment.”

I’ve heard it said other ways on TRF and it rings true for me. I like the thrill of the hunt and the catch. Many times, the thrill sticks and I keep it. I do enjoy the thrill of finding and acquiring what sings to me!

I had green dial in order but backed out. It took 6 mos to arrive and sold to another buyer before it hit the case. Can’t stop thinking about it though. May order again.

Isn't this the same John Mayer that bragged about getting one of the first Daytona C's?

Prior to joining TRF I knew little about him. Since then I’ve learned a bit more and in my opinion he is a well spoken, cool dude and I’ve even listened to some of his music which I have enjoyed.

Nonetheless, cool to watch this interview and thanks OP for sharing.

I don't know much about John Mayer's music, and honestly don't like and wouldn't buy quite a few of the watches he showed, but I liked his enthusiasm. I liked his passion and I liked his perspective on watches.

I wasn't a fan (didn't have an opinion at all), but I am now. I thought it was great.

Thanks for posting. Roll on, John Mayer.

Why not just look for the best in people and value their contribution? At least that way if you are wrong you don't end up insulting someone unnecessarily.

Love all these posts, both positive and negative. I’ve been following HODINKEE for years, but this is the first time I’ve ever watched any of their videos. Sad, right? I saw John in concert quite a few years ago and have always loved his music. He’s a phenomenal guitar player and now I know, he’s a knowledgeable and passionate watch collector. With an amazing collection of fine watches and he knows the exact the details of each one. I learned more about Rolex in this 30 minutes than I did doing months of research on the interwebs. He’s quirky, but I honestly think he talks about watches like he plays his guitars and writes his songs. Who couldn’t get onboard with that?!?! Bravo!

I'm not really into his music and don't know much about him, but his passion for watches is pretty cool.

I enjoyed the video. Thanks for posting it!
