First time I see this version of the Day Date and it's absolutely stunning. Could you please tell us a bit more about this watch? reference (18208?), year, etc. Is that a custom dial?

I love me some 36mm DDs, and I think the smooth bezel is actually a plus - The people who’ll recognize it (I’m guessing it’s a 18208?) know how uncommon it is, and for the rest of the world it doesn’t shout ROLEX! across the room.

I’m pretty neutral on oyster v. President bracelet - For a first/only DD, the President bracelet is a big part of the look of the classic model, but I like both. Although original prices seem to make little difference in this liminal neo-vintage space (cf. Tridors), IIRC the 18K oyster was a fair bit less $ than the President bracelet when new, so maybe it saves you a bit?

I’ll let the experts opine on the hands and dial, but my guess would be that the dial is a later replacement. Do the markers have any glow to them?

I like the smooth bezel.

My preference is the President bracelet for the DD but with that dial/color combo, the watch works.

If you pull the trigger... congrats. Unique DD.

I’m a fan of the blue dial on YG DD. Prefer the fluted bezel but smooth is growing on me.

Unloved? Not by a long shot! For a Rolex enthusiast the oyster and smooth bezel really grabs your attention. And that stick dial is perfect for this watch.

I notice that this configuration is not available on the Rolex website.

Soooo . . . how about telling us more about it.
- What reference?
- What year?
- How did you come across it?

We're DD's quite rare on Oyster? I was after one for a while - the 118238 and only ever saw 1 on oyster in the searches I tried.
Great watch by the way. Awesome combo.

It looks nice, but i would pick a DD only with president bracelet and fluted bezel.

Make sure the dial is legit, as i don't recall Rolex offering this combo for the model.

Nice to see a change from the fluted President.

That combo is excellent.

I love Day Dates, I love fluted bezels, I love the President bracelet.

Somehow, this watch looks amazing. I love it. Especially with that blue dial.

What an incredibly good looking watch.
I like the DD and the 36mm looks perfect.
Here it looks completely different (smooth bezel, blue dial, oyster bracelet) to the typical DD combo. Honestly, I would call this the "daring combo" or the "astonishing combo". Enjoy in good health!!
