Sorry, it’s pure hype… make no mistake about it!

Social Media dictates the hot models and people fall right into the trap.

There are a few individuals that buy what they actually want and not what’s hot or will get them social media views and likes…. but it’s a small percentage.

After a few years, you get to know who they are on this Forum ; )

Cheers

The stella dials from the 1970s just a few but there were red and yellow.

100% agree.

They wear the hype not the watch. Most don’t even know what movement they have inside… brutal!

But they get those views/likes on social media!!! It’s all that matters…

Agree, and same here.

I'll never get a watch with double markers at 3, 6, and 9. Almost as bad as a 4:30 date. Other than that I like the "Tiffany" OP.

Patek makes money
Tiffany makes money
Both get reputational benefits
Purchasers are happy
Auctioneers make money

Why should I be upset?

Ingredients:

add one tablespoon of fomo
add four tablespoons of hype
add 12 fluid ounces of social media
shake

You have now created the perfect cocktail for the crowd that solely exist to address their own narcissistic inadequacy in the form likes and views. As has been said in this thread, many if not most do not even know what movement is powering their watch nor do they care. It's all about the flex. That's it. Jmho, of course.

Have to agree many of todays younger age whose sole information cupboard is in so called social media,Youtube etc instead of using there own brain. And many now mostly buy or wear whatever the Facewhatsainstag social media dictates. As this so called social media have taken over there lives and use of there own brain power to think for themselves.

I think it's because you are not young anymore that those fancy colored dials failed to get your attention, lol.

They got my attention way back in the 1970s when first introduced, yes some of them are very nice colours but now certain colours are driven by hype.

The color is bright yes, but i also saw many men wearing the OP36 candy pink. So the turquise is definitely not exclusively for women IMO. Happy to get at retail so I cannot complaint.

Taking one symbol of souped-up materialism (Rolex) and associating it with another (Tiffany) is a sure-fire recipe for more materialistic hype.

Turquoise is a likable color and works well with multiple skin tones. I got nothing against the color itself but I am not too crazy about anything associate with "Tiffany&co". Tiffany is just too lady brand for me. The same reason I'll never wear Chanel watch doesn't matter how much effort they put into their watches. I actually feel more comfortable with Cartier brand for men. Good thing Rolex only got the color instead stamping Tiffany one their dial. Patek Tiffany Blue just looks like fake watch to me, I don't see beauty in it.

It is all about brand and marketing. DOXA run turquoise color long before Rolex but not as hyped for years. Maybe due to watch design, but it now prob will catch the wind. Halios Seaforth ran the same color before Rolex too and it was selling like instantly but due to less brand recognition, it wasn't as hyped as Rolex and never will be.

Rolex isn't the first brand put black ceramic bezel on watch but it is Rolex caused the Daytona hype to a degree, some ignorant people think Rolex invented that technology. Rolex also isn't the first brand that placed ceramic bezel insert in a bezel, the fact Chanel did it first but when Rolex does it, all brands aligned and follow the trend.

Rolex is Rolex. They don't always need to be "the First" but they are capable to lead the trend.
