Have your tried the 126710 on your wrist? It wears a lot differently than your 5 digits, if that matters in your decision making process

Not only would I do that trade, I did do that exact trade in 2019.
I loved my 16710, and had it for 15 years. I had the 16570 for a while also. I never imagined they’d appreciate in value so much… so I traded them in. Some people are very sentimental, so they may few things differently — but if they are just watches, then after awhile they just get old, look worn, and can make you feel old wearing them. I have nostalgia for the 5-digits, but they just don’t compare to the quality of the 12XXXX models. Go for it! |

The 16710 is the real deal, the last of the true tool watches and perhaps the most versatile watch Rolex has ever created. The new 6 digits are simply homages to the 4/5 digit references that built the brand and so no. The new version is simply a bloated, bling, pastel version of the past GMT's with the only real improvement being wrist presence, which I don't find an improvement at all and a bit more power reserve which really only benefits those that let it sit in a safe for days on end rather than strap it on. The new versions are like carnival caricatures, where they draw pictures with exaggerated features. The new versions took existing aspects of the past and then emphasized them and exaggerated them to the point of distortion.

Seems ok $-wise, but I really like the 16710…so if it was for my wrist, I’d pass.
If you prefer the modern version though and you’d like wearing it more, go for it. ![]() |

While an overall minority seems to recommend “do it” those that are recommending “do it” seem to be those who have or have had a 126710.
OP — you won’t regret acquiring the 126710BLRO, particularly if you don’t wear the 16710 or 16570. You can get an SKX009 for the occasional aluminum Pepsi vibe. |

Thank you all for your feedback and thoughts. I was ready to do it as an even trade but seller ended up asking $5k on top so no deal. I may try to find an even deal or continue the wait with the AD. They should be able to come through with the Black Bay Pro I would think so maybe that helps a little.

I have the 126710BLRO and a 16710 "P". I have wore the 126710 only three times. Love its looks but I would sell the 126710 before I would sell my complete full set 16710 at current prices. Even saying that I would have not done the deal the OP mentioned. The 16710 is my fav wear. But each to their own. Both great watches.

I did it. Changed my mind to Oyster bracelet after I saw a BLNR exhibit piece on Jubilee at an AD the other day for the first time. Too much bling for me. Waiting patiently for it to arrive.
Thankful for everyone's advice and opinion here, the ones trying to talk me off the ledge as much as the ones encouraging me to go with it. |

Thank you! Considering what I had in the two that I sold, I came out on top as in I got the BLRO at a "discount" if that can even be said if you go grey. I wanted this reference since it came out in 2018 with virtually no chance of ever getting it from an AD.
With all the turmoil in the recent days and weeks, I caught myself anxiously reading all the threads about the price drops and was wondering if I made my move too soon. I decided to stop reading them as it's pointless now. I am almost sure I overpaid in one way or another (it's all relative). If you believe the internet hype (good or bad), they will be soon selling them for 5k or so at Costco at the pace they are allegedly dropping right now. Is this a dip in the market? Sure. But I don't think it's Judgement Day either. The truth is, like always, somewhere in the middle. I went with a reputable seller I have done business with before so that trust and piece of mind were there. I always looked at this as a hobby and passion only and my "goal" (if there ever was one) was to break even when I would sell. I have some discontinued references I got at MSRP so I am not too concerned. I hate the look at the "investment" part of all of this but unfortunately it has become somewhat part of it. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the new piece and hope we can all enjoy our hobby in good health, regardless of the monetary aspect. Cheers! |

If you think you'd be wearing the BLRO more, then go for it. Ultimately it's your decision but personally I wouldn't do it.

Would you do this trade? GMT + Ex2 = BLRO
I’d sell both of the 5 digit pieces, then wait patiently for my AD to find me a new GMT Master. Don’t like the old clasps and don’t like the idea of paying aftermarket prices for production models the AD can source for me just to avoid a little waiting.
