Which is why someone will be far more likely to create a Rolex-compatible "strap" with this technology integrated into it. Perhaps as part of a (very bulky) clasp. Difficulty will be keeping it thin enough while having a charging jack (magnetic charging pad will be a no-no).

The thing about tech is that it always gets smarter/better over time so you need to keep updating/changing to the latest and greatest.

Hence why I never understood the absurd spending on Hermes or LV iPhone cases/Apple Watch straps. You're attaching an item meant to last a long time (if properly cared for) to one designed to be obsolete in a few years.

Had a very high-end wallet that finally gave out after eight years of daily use. Had five different phones during that same time, none of which would have shared a case.

Does anyone think Rolex will add fitness trackers to their bracelets?

Technology like that has a short shelf life because of how quickly it advances in a short period of time. It’s basically disposable. It’s not something you want in a watch that’s meant to last for generations. I love my Apple Watch but I replace them every other release.

Exactly this. Mechanical watches are already obsolete, that’s part of their charm, so they can never be any more obsolete than they already are.

It's far more silly to refer to one's watch as a "Rollie" IMO.

You might want to check the dictionary definition of ‘obsolete’.

Never gonna happen. They are not going to drop down to compete against FitBit or Apple watch. A Rolex is a Rolex. A luxury, mechanical watch. Not a fitness tracker. You don't ask your wife to do what a GF does & vice versa.

Yes, this is the tech answer IMHO. The clasp is ripe for tech development.

I’m glad someone has found a solution for the “one watch” owner.

Problem is many of us wear 3 or more watches in rotation. Not a convenient answer.

I would rather just wear a Fitbit as well.

If Rolex did a smart watch I would consider it but it would need to be Apple compatible. The TAG smart watches are nice but only functional if you do Android. Which I feel like most high end watch owners are not using.
