My personal opinion is that the vintage was "off" from the previous 3 harvests. Some fruit didn't have the hang-time that was needed because of the rains, and forced vintners to pull the fruit in fear of mold on the grape clusters. This made for a lot of un-ripened fruit, which also makes high alcohol wines, with a lot of tannins, and not much fruit balance. All these factors will play into its longevity of aging.
I also have to believe that the wineries you mentioned are some of the best in the biz, and know how to respond to Mother Nature, and her curve balls. If they can be bought "right", i think they will age fine for that 10-12 year window and peak. I personally think it would be tough to age 15+ years, with the fruit they were dealing with in 2009.

When looking up past vintages, research is your best source for answers. I didnt think it was a "knowledge" contest. But if that's what you are after, I can go that route with you as well. No problem.

Far Niente/Nickle and Nickle are related wineries. If I was to drink white as to not offend I would drink that in a heart beat.

I think Gerardo had his first Nickle and Nickle Cab when we eat at Wynn, La Cave. Kinda like tapas there. It was very good food and wine. G, Ash was there with his brother and me.
Then we hit the lounge and had my first Cuban.

Tasting Notes:

Les Chevaux, (French for “the horses”) is named for the wild horses that once roamed the Horse Heaven Hills. This lively red blend presents rose petal aromas and dark fruit cherry flavors, followed by smooth tannins that lead in to a vibrant finish.

Food Pairings: beef, lamb, bleu cheese

Wine Analysis Blend:
60% Syrah, 27% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 4% Viognier, 2% Malbec, 3% Other Varietals

Alcohol: 14.5% pH: 3.77 TA: 0.57 g/100 mL

Winemaker's Notes:

Mark - that is AWESOME my friend - would have loved to have been there for that!!

I bet they would drink phenomenally right now. Cathy makes some really great very well rounded wines - we stopped by the winery last time we were in the valley for a library tasting and this was part of the case I bought along with some of the Kronos cab as well -- which is very tasty.

The '10 was really good this evening and opened up very nicely within an hour and a half or so. The nose was full of cherry and blackberry and held all the way through the finish.

This is one that no doubt flies under the radar but should be tried by all cab lovers!!
