Carl, I just now took a listen to your acoustic guitar video. Lovely! I am a fan of acoustic guitar.... such a beautiful, pure sound.
Between you and Wes, I couldn't ask for more beautiful treats for the ears. But I will, anyway: More, please. ![]() |

Guys, just for fun, here is a link to the estate sale website of the crew who's doing my parents' sale this weekend. I clicked on the "slideshow with music" link, and it nearly brought a tear to my eye.
It was a little strange seeing all of Mom and Dad's stuff and realizing that they are gone and have no use for it anymore... but hopefully much of it will sell. Re-use, recycle. If you do look at the slides, you'll see that my watch collection is pictured. Fear not; I have priced them at more than I have in them. The estate sale guy and I agreed that the watches would be a draw to the sale. Still competitive prices, but I don't expect any of them to sell. If they do, I will put the proceeds into a new watch fund. Not sure what I want yet.... more on that later. http://www.okcestatesales.com/category/upcoming-sales/ |

Well hope it goes well and most of it sells. Be cool if you can get the watch fund going. Wonder what you'd get. ![]() Maybe you should put some of Dave's stuff in you want rid, flying simulator, radios. Then say whoops didn't realize. |

![]() As for the watches; who knows. I think most people who come to an estate sale would be horrified at paying what the watches are worth (to people like us, that is!). Still, you never know. I would guess that the Explorer II might be the most likely to sell; which is fine, as it almost never gets any wrist time. It's nice to have the pics of the house I grew up in, too. I was five when we moved in. |

Hey Lisa- I just viewed the auction at your parents place, and am feeling kind of sentimental on your behalf; It feels like the end chapter of a good book.
Would you really part with that gorgeous rose gold explorer? ( is that the watch you were wearing in your pizza making pics?) Just wondering... ![]() |

Matt (estate guy) mislabled the caption for that watch - it's actually a steel Datejust with salmon dial. You know, I do like the watch but it's always fit a bit loose, and the only way to get it smaller is to take out a permanent link. And it has no lume except for a very weak bit on the hands. I am nearly positive no one will buy it for the price listed, Michelle. But if they do, that's really okay! I just might replace it with a new fluted-bezel Datejust with salmon or pink dial and baton markers - with lume. |

Including the watches as a draw is a good idea. If they don't sell, what about taking them to that preowned watch store you've mentioned before in your area....the one where you got your Date? I think a new style DJ with lume would be a perfect fit for you! ![]() |

Would have to be a jubilee, Karis. So comfy and I like the little bit of sparkle that bracelet has. I just hope the new jubilees can be made small enough without removing a permanent link. The TOG with salmon dial might have a bit of bracelet stretch; I'd like to try a new bracelet to see if it's a bit more snug. I would think that, with more and more women buying the 36mm DJs, Rolex would provide a bit more flexibility for weanie wrists like mine. Hey - it's your fault I'm thinking pink these days. ![]() |

Hi Karis!
Myself,I really miss the jubilee bracelet On my first watch- it was so comfortable, and did not show scratches as the oyster does.... I wonder what my YM would look like with a jubilee? (I'll bet Rolex would not do that though;) |

Lisa, I can remove the 1 1/2 link, and 3 other links from the other side. That's 1 inch, maybe a smidge over.
I have 6 1/2" wrist, so as long as yours is no smaller than 5 1/2" |

![]() ![]() Ahhh, yes the pink! Still on my brain but I am not buying a third watch. Right now I'm living through my mom who is close to pulling the trigger on a DJ with pink flower dial. We're going to another AD this weekend to see if we can compare the shade to the pink roman and pink stick dials. Yay, any excuse for me to go to an AD works! ![]() |

PS - does the new jubilee bracelet not have micro-adjustments on the clasp, then? |

No Micro Adjustment, both Karis and I have a 1.25 link, and got the perfect fit. You may not need that. Was £42 at RSC and well worth it, I was wearing it loose before.
The hidden clasp really looks great, the center links sparkle, match the fluted bezel. And just doesn't show any scratches. Because of the solid links, doubt it will stretch. Not seen any that have. |

Can you tell me more about the 1.25 link option? Is it used in place of two regular links?

My goodness, you do see a difference in between those links! Although I guess it isn't as bad as if it was a 1.5 link.

Hey, Michelle. That bezel is unique to the Datejust "Turn-o-Graph" which is also nicknamed the Thunderbird. Apparently the nickname comes from the time when Thunderbird aircraft pilots were given the watches upon successful returns from missions. Some years later the bezel was redesigned to a more fluted bezel, making the TOG look just about like the classic fluted bezel DJ. And now, Rolex has dropped production of the TOG altogether.
I do like the look of it, too. You can still find plenty of the TOG Datejusts in the used market. ![]() |
