Tragic news gaby - i can imagine the feeling you got when it happened & you saw the damage. Well, at least take it to the RSC and get an estimate so you know what you will be up for before deciding either to fix it or get another Rolex (down the track).

Man that sucks. I have been paranoid about spring bars since my vacation 3 years ago. I am slightly OCD and check the spring bars by looking at the lug holes when I put my watches on (for those that have lug holes). Well 3 year ago I saw that on one hole of my GMT, it looked like there was no springbar. Took it in and sure enough it was about to go and I had it replaced. The thing that bothers me is that the watch had been serviced at RSC a year before. Now I wonder, if I hadn't checked and the watch had come off like Gaby's did, shouldn't Rolex have covered the repair?

I get even more paranoid now that I have a Daytona with no lug holes which makes it harder to verify everything is OK...

Hope it comes back to life soon.

I'm so sorry this happened to you Gaby. As the Doc had mentioned, were you able to get all the parts? If so, I'm sure that it can be repaired if sent to the right watch maker. Always keep in mind that everything happens for a reason and when one door closes another will surely open. I have no doubts this isn't the last you've seen of your DJ and there will be a happy ending. Until then hang in there buddy

Hey Gaby!

Just joining the party....cough...mourning. Sorry to hear it, my friend - when one door closes, another opens, as they say. Besides, RCS is good at 'reincarnation'. Look at it thins way - if this is the worst thing that happens to you this year - you've done better than most of us

I think you need a hug!

Sorry to hear the bad news Gaby. Post photos when you can, some of us like carnage pictures. Seriously though, good life lesson learned about preventative maintenance.

Just logged on and read this thread, Gaby.

Very sorry to hear what happened. Just collect all the bits and pieces and at least show it to a good watchmaker and see what he can do.

Good luck, my friend - JJ

I couldn't live without my regular dose of downhill skiing . Can assure you that I wasn't feeling fit on sunday morning after that lunch with the boys on saturday , but still went up to Andorra .
P.S. J.J. I don't think you should watch too much TV anyway at the moment , olympics or not . Rest the eyesight .

If you post some pics of the mess perhaps one of our Tech Experts will be able to assess the extent of the damage.

Do not throw it since most of the parts are worth decent money even if it's in really bad condition.

Get those pics posted, there will be only sympathy, no jokes.
