If this becomes a reality it might convert me to a DJ.

I just love my DJ II. Stopped by my AD the other day to look at the new 41 and just wasn't wowed. But to each their own.

DJ2 vs 41
This. Both great watches but I prefer the oyster over jubilee on anything except a president.

Check out my DJII I posted last year Nov 2016.
So glad I got it for a great price when most in the market was gunning for the batman, which is cool, but i prefer a coke or pepsi. Only a power reserve movement update and with this Basel 2017 launch, I think the 41 will not be as easily discount as per last year with the DJII. I did wanted a jubilee option, but on the 36...it sits right with that size. I think jubilee imo on the 41mm looks horrendous, which the DJII I've been wearing to work with suit 4days in a week, suits the oyster really well for a more modern look with the size. I think the oyster sport related look, allows the over size 41mm dress watch (I am a traditionalist and dress watch should be 36, but I can swallow 40 max) seem to balanced it out in formal occasion. 41 with jubilee...not working for me For a black tie watch, I would want the diamond dark rhodium dial with jubilee on a 36. However, it seem this combo is not available. Black dial it would have to be. If I did buy this year, it would have to be the 36 dark rhodium w/g fluted bezel on a jubilee as a everyday work watch. Off topic: I think this year, with no COKE GMT or steel Pepsi, no ceramic bezel explorer II, the Explorer II 216570 Polar or the black 16570 pre 2006 is definitely the deal to pick up...probably best at East and Christmas period and get the post 2015 July pre-own models for the 5 year warranty. |

Interesting the opinions on the 36, dj2 and new 41. I know the 36 is the traditional size but I must admit I wouldn't buy it only because I much prefer the 41mm overall. That's not to say the 36 isn't a great watch of course it is but the smaller size doesn't do it for me. I've always thought the jubilee a bit more suited for older wearers (I'm nearly 44 so maybe I'm getting there too!)? However the new 41 with the rhodium dial and jubilee looks a beauty and at £5500 in U.K. its maybe a possibility some day. I do like the fluted bezel of course but £5500 up to £6900 to get one is quite a jump.

Has anyone managed to successfully put the jubilee bracelet from the Datejust 41 onto a Datejust II?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Personally I would never wear a 36! Heck I have my dad's yellow gold with champagne dial Day-Date and I still wouldn't wear it cause it's 36. But my wife sure loves to wear it - 36 is the new woman size IMO (no offense to anyone). In my eyes, the new DJ41, fluted bezel on Jubilee combo (just as it should be) is the most stunning classy watch Rolex makes. Even more so than the president just simply due to its minimalist factor. But hey, I buy and wear what I like, so buy and wear what sings to you mate! I'm hoping the slate / rhodium dial becomes available on fluted bezel when the BW17 releases hits our local ADs. Dressed up or dressed down with any color clothing, this is it! IMG_0382.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

You can't! The dimensions of the DJ41 case is different. Just case they claim them to be 41mm they actually differ in the decimal places (i.e. 40.5 vs 40.9). Also, the case thickness of the DJ41 is slimmer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I am a little confused. Did they not announce the DateJust 41 in stainless at Basel? Im assuming this hasn't hit ADs yet. Any chance they are going to be more open to deals on the DJ2?

DJ2's are disappearing fast. If your on the fence still, best to make up your mind quick, and yes, there are some good deals around on these incredible watches. I have a 7"" wrist and the DJ2 fits just fine. I love 'em so much I acquired a blue dial to go with my TT before they're gone for good & couldn't be happier with my choice...

I'm confused, too. Are the SS DJ41s in the stores now? My AD says she has them but I'm thinking these are the DJ IIs. She did, however, give me the reference number as 126334 which is the SS DJ41, right?

Idk if a one extra day power reserve is worth the premium. If the size fits go with the dj2 and save yourself some money.
