I like the model more than I thought I would when hearing about it. Still not a believer in their inhouse movement though.

Why? The movement in the Pelagos seems to have dead-on accuracy.

Love it. Put a deposit down on one. Now the wait.

I also put my name on a list for the Rolex Pepsi. Yeah, like that will really happen.

I love the Pepsi Rolex because of the technical expertise it takes to do the ceramic bezel but I hate the jubilee and the price.

I really have aluminum bezels, the thought of them fading over time makes me sad but the more I look at the BB, the more I like this watch and think I could over look the bezel. It packs a ton of value into the price.

So based on the responses here on the forum and the info I’ve received at various ADs here in Northern California it seems demand will be fairly high for this piece. Was at Tourneau today they asked for $2500 deposit for a watch they may not get, similar request made at another AD! I find this amazing! By the way if anyone is interested Shreve in SF has three eta based B.B. on clearance!

They show better than , they wear, way too thick, your caught in the middle, without a 1/2 link, with the bracelet. Don’t like the stem insert, the foot print doesn’t come close to Rolex, real thick.....sorry, I bought one on line, and thank god the dealer, let e off the hook,

I hate the thought of travelling with a 10k+ watch, so this might be the travel watch for me. Hate the faux rivets though, and wish it were a coke

I saw it and instantly fell in love with it.... then I started considering the "cons"...is it a homage? Is it too thick? That GMT hand is just plain odd!..... then I discounted all of that and fell in love again.... THEN I started thinking that the date looked a bit off.... a cyclops would actually help my old eyes read it....and now I'm already customizing it....then I fell in love again..... (I think this will go on for some time)

I think it looks amazing. I wish I were in the market. It has a really good subdued look to it. I hope it wears as good as it looks. Good job Tudor!

So much Tudor hate in these threads regarding the new GMT. It's all quite ...interesting. (Note my username. I clearly like Tudor just fine.)

I'm not conversant in all the ways that Chromalite, Oystersteel, and Parachrom are superior to Super-LumiNova, 316L, and silicon. Maybe others can explain those differences to me. Seriously, I also own an Explorer II. I absolutely love it in almost every way. But I don't know why it's objectively better than my North Flag, for example, and I'd love to know.

In the meantime, I'll try to assert why I think Tudor is NOT bad, and in fact why I think it's great.

I'm of the opinion that Tudor is currently one of the most important mainstream watch brands going. They are marrying true innovation (entirely new, high-quality movements with high power reserves and extreme accuracy, for comparatively little money) with proven aesthetics. Using these proven designs (rather than wholly unique and "acquired taste" styling like, say, Hublot) lets Tudor cater to a larger, safer market - a market that is currently at high risk. These new buyers might choose to spend far less money and buy a smartwatch, a digital watch, a quartz watch, or - heaven forbid - *NO* watch.

Instead, Tudor offers them a watch that looks "good" (trusted, proven, nostalgic), which also comes with interesting watchmaking technology and an interesting brand. This may be enough to help these buyers become true mechanical watch aficionados, and brand loyalists. And that brand they are loyal to - it feeds directly into the mothership.

See, that's good for Tudor now, and really good for Rolex later. If these new prospective buyers choose ANY of the current alternatives mentioned above, they unwittingly choose NOT to participate in watch culture. And that means they don't learn to appreciate the joys of mechanical watches. And THAT means the Swiss watch industry will go the way of countless brands and products that refused to market product to a new generation of buyers, and then ran out of revenue when all their customers literally died of old age.

So, hate Tudor all you want. Just know that Tudor, and other brands like it, may end up being the only reason we get to continue buying new Rolexes. :)

Oh! And back on topic, my name is on the list at my Local AD for a new Black Bay GMT. It will be the watch I use for casual travel, or for when I travel to less savory places. Then my Explorer II can stay home, unless I my travel requires a suit. I think it's stunning on the leather strap.

I think it’s great the Rolex family can offer a gmt watch from $3900 all the way to the solid gold model prices. That’s a large market share, and now the Tudor will be icon just like the older Pepsi ref we all love that made this a hit. The Rolex gmt is sick don’t get me wrong but I’ll take a Diet Pepsi please sir lol

The point of Tudor is to create watches with bolder designs at a lower price point.

The only one thing I don't like Tudor GMT is the aluminum bezel insert. Pelagos has the ceramic bezel and why not GMT? Bi-color ceramic bezel belongs to his brother ony?

dual color ceramic would put this watch over 6k imo.

and that is the threshold for tudors right now.
