Didn't quite finish the magnum.

The '03 Margaux is spectacular.

On the nose you get coffee bean, black licorice with a little spice. Great structure from start to finish - this wine is seamless -- with a great finish.

Ready to drink now - or 10 years from now. Honestly a personal choice!!

This Margaux will (should be) be up there comparable to some of the great vintages!!!

Thanks for the note! I tend to like my BDX on the aged end of the spectrum, especially in good vintages. I'll let my '03 Margaux rest awhile longer before uncorking one. Maybe 2020.....

Absolutely!!! And I tend to be the same way with the Bordeauxs myself -- there's almost no wine better than an old Bordeaux!!

Lately I've found that late 80s vintages (85-86 specifically) have been phenomenal!!

Had a Christmas Party with some great friends last night. Here is what we had. The Sandrone Barolo and the Oreno were amazing as were the champagnes we chose.

The Peter Michael Pinot Noir is going to be amazing but it still needs about 5 years of aging.

Picked up a pair of these last night at dinner. It is limited to 2 bottles per club member.

Their collaboration wines are always a really good value. I have a couple Magnum's of Decadence in the cellar from a couple years ago. They need to sit for a few more to be their best.

Looks GREAT!!

I agree on the PM Pinot. I opened a 'La Moulin Rouge' for Thanksgiving ('13) and it was quite good -- but still very green.

Agree with both of you, I think the 12 MD is way way better than the 10 MD IMHO, even though they both scored 100.

Those are the 2012 Sine Qua Non Stock Syrah (tall bottle) and Stein Grenache (short bottle).

Anyone put together their Christmas day, or non-denominational winter solstice holiday wine list yet? My wife and I aren't hosting this year so I'm bringing a few bottles but one bubbly and one unremarkable pinot (Seasmoke 2012).

I was hoping to live vicariously through you good gentlemen to see what you'll be drinking. New Years is at our house and that list I'll post next week.

Me and my wine buddies are doing our Christmas wine lunch on Thursday which goes until about 2am. Should be some good stuff. I'm bringing 2013 Kongsgaard The Judge Chardonnay and 2014 Old Sparky or maybe a couple of other Schraders. Super excited to try the Judge.

We do this every year for the past five as the anniversary of the Mayan calendar ending back in 2012(?) Basically no sense leaving your best bottles unopened if the world is going to end. :)

I've got a buddy with similar proclivities. He'll pop open a bottle as soon as the shipment arrives. We like to joke that he hates when he can't open a bottle before the glue has dried on the label. And when a group of us text what we're planning to open that night or upcoming weekend, it always has to be said that this buddy will be enjoying the 2019 Scarecrow or ScrEagle.

Some excellent choices! Though I hope the travel isn't too far and bumpy? Possibility of bottle shock would be a concern for me, the Mouton Rothschild especially.
