My current favourite single malts are Glendronach 21 Parliament & Nikka from the barrel. I discovered the Glendronach at AP house in February this year.

Had the Wild Turkey 101 last night, first venture into Bourbon.
Definitely a lot sweeter than I expected, but not bad. The taste is a bit 'artificial' compared to a fruity / 'sweet' highland Scotches, but I'm not complaining. For €22 it's good value and great for sipping accompanied by some salted peanuts and a bad action movie |

Budget whiskey here. Well I had some Jack Daniels. Good lord. It tastes like bananas. Literally, a banana flavored spirit. Is this normal? A bad batch maybe? Finished the bottle, but had to have it with ice, which I normally don't do.

picked up a bottle of johnnie walker black. actually not a huge fan of it. honestly I'd rather sip on some jack daniels or makers mark than black, although I feel black would pair nicely with smokin on a stogie.

The blend is kept a secret, but you can be sure it is quite malt-heavy (barley), since that's what most Scotch distillers use as their primary grain. JW is owned by Diageo and has access to several dozen whiskies to use in its blends. Jack Daniels is Tennessee whiskey, primarily corn mash, with rye and barley in it, then dripped over charcoal to "remove impurities" and mellow out the flavors. Very distinct flavor. Maker's Mark is also corn heavy, but with wheat instead of rye in the mash, which smoothes and sweetens the bourbon even more. Personally, I don't like a smokey Scotch with a cigar; too much smoke. I prefer a sweet and smooth bourbon to pair it with. |

I’ve found bourbon is more likely to evolve with some time after the initial pour, especially with the higher proof bottlings.

Snagged These in Louisville Last Week
I don't think either of these are distributed in Georgia. Was in Louisville and was able to grab them up, excited to try each. They had both Carter batch 4 and 5 and the reviews I had seen pointed me towards 5. Was really torn on the VOSN Summer or Harvest offerings, I don't think there was a bad call to be made on those. Will be a bit before I get around to these, but excited to try them.
