Both Great, hard to got wrong with either OR getting both.
My vote is for SS Daytona though if you have to pick one.

In what way? The rest of your post seems to be at odds with that sentiment.

The grey side of the moon is a pretty special watch. That platinum dusted dial to make that moon dust effect is fantastic. However when paired with the daytona its a pretty hard choice. If it was the black dial steel that would be my choice for sure. White dials more of a toss up.

That being said i went to one of my local watch stores yesterday and was blown away by the Speedmaster grey side of the moon. Ceramic case, exhibition back, and 44mm, it is absolutely stunning. I have been in the market for a light faced watch either white or silver for a while now but havent found anything that i love. I like the white face Daytona but everyone has one and i also feel like its a little undersized. Wish they would come out with an updated version already and stop making us all wait. I like the white faced AP dive watch but its a bit too pricey for a dive watch and I also like the cartier calibre. I currently have 2 Breitlings and a BLNR and want something a lighter but not too dressy as i wear casual clothes to work and wear a suit less than 10 times per year.

All this being said i guess my main question is am i crazy for liking this Omega over other comparable watches? And what are your thoughts pros and cons for the comparison of a speedmaster to a daytona.

The Omegas are great watches with a history worthy of justifying ownership. That said I don't believe that owning a Speedo will eliminate the desire for a Daytona. For me I've got an original year Speedmaster Mark II as well as a lovely Tudor GranTour Chronograph both of which are wonderful chronographs neither of which are Daytonas. As far as your main question is concerned, yes you are crazy although I doubt it relates to your watch choice; buy what moves you.

Here's my '69 Mark II and my current Tudor GT. Both great watches but I still want and am looking for a Daytona.

I like the relative rareness of both watches. Sooner or later it'll happen and I'll find my Daytona (likely later than sooner). Thanks!!!

All this "Chrono talk" has me likin' my only chrono - my (Tag) Heuer Dark Lord homage:

Automatic, so no winding; date function, acrylic crystal, 38mm square (like 40mm+ round), PVD, +3 seconds/day, (albeit puny) 30m water resistance. Wanna turn some heads? Buy a Monaco!

I think some look hot initially but fades in time. On the other hand, some models just consistently look very good over time.. after first year, after 5 years... after 10 years... you get the message. I think Daytona is in the ladder camp.. longer lasting look.

The Daytona is a watch that never appealed to me, but I can definitely understand what all the fuss is about. The Speedmaster, in my humble opinion, is the signature watch of Omega as a brand. The aviator in me would go Speedmaster, but I couldn't fault anyone for choosing the Daytona.

This! Look at the beauty of that watch not to mention its Iconic status. One my favorite photos of the white Daytona, courtesy of Dr. Tom.

I love my January '69 145.022-69. I do, however, plan on getting a Daytona at some point.

Omega made changes to the Speedy to make it an even more reliable, cheaper-to-build tool watch. Rolex evolved the Daytona to be ever-more refined. At this point they are in very different categories IMO (and price points).

I love my Speedy because it's so basic. But it car terms it's like a late 70s 300D with no turbo. The Daytona is something much more modern despite being an icon, too.

This is a long-winded way of saying "get one of each."

Have one of those^ And just picked up a black face SS Daytona.

With my old eyes the Omega is easier to read but the Daytona looks better.
