Cool cars. Almost as much fun as watches.

This is a local car. I’ve seen it a few times now. I’m guessing he brought it out for Brasil GP weekend..

Anyone here own a Rivian R1S? Thoughts?
Cross shopping against the new Landcruiser and (if ever released) EX90. Also in the mix are the usual suspects like the GLS450 etc… Currently own an XC90, XC60 and a handful of mostly impractical sports cars. Safety is highest priority. |

Joked because we both tested one and for the price at the time - was hilarious how awful build quality was. I think it was $120 or $130k as optioned and honestly was build quality of a $30k car (if that) and interior quality to match. Happy to hear an opinion on Rivian vs Tesla. |

This is a fantastic daily driver and turns a lot of heads and starts a lot of conversations...VW can still build a proper European car when they want to.

Thanks! And agree on the wheels, I've gotten used to them enough where I think they can work, but there is definitely room for improvement there. Seems to be something affecting many manufacturers, tbh.

Car Love Thread
My wife and I went for tapas this evening, and I didn’t expect to run into this in traffic.
I was pretty excited to see it and just needed to share with other car people. Last picture is terrible but here it is.

Nice spot! I've loved the F50 since it first came out and it's amazing to see one out driving on the street given its rarity and value.

I wonder if the Ferrari forum is filled with threads asking if it’s safe to drive my four million dollar F50 in _________?

I am guilty too. One nearly 10yo car with 2k miles. A nearly 30yo car with 10k miles. My heavily driven sports car - 15 yo with just under 40k miles. |

You’re either a driver or a collector.
I made the decision that I’m a driver. I buy drivers, drive them more, and move on (E39 M5 anyone?). Someday, I’d like to be a collector too…when I have the means and space to do so. Until then, I’m driving my cars, drinking my bourbon and wearing my watches. But then again, I don’t have a F50. |

But once you have a certain number of cars, family, etc… the priorities can shift. Just like middle ground between those keeping watches in safe deposit boxes and those who bang them up doing yard work. There is a point of balance and that can differ widely. But most of these Ferraris are extremely low mileage, likely because many are part of large collections and a good percentage are held for investment purposes. |

Great point. The car, means and priorities probably makes the difference. It also influences the entry point, use and disposition. |

Here are my two fun cars. Both dream cars of mine, the 2007 911 Targa 4S I have had for close to 6 years, and the 1990 Mercedes 560SEC that I just got 2 months ago.

For some reason lately I’ve been wanting to get a 560SEC and do a AMG Hammer exterior conversion and swap in a newer AMG engine. I don’t know why, it’s just been in my head lately as a really cool project. 560s are cool as is Ben for some reason that’s been floating around lately.

I hate to admit it but also recently did the same with a 300ce that also would’ve made a cool AMG project. I suppose I keep missing out because I already have project, and my daily bring Italian is sort of a moving project. Lol
