Earnings, North Korea, OIL and a nearly over bought market, we are looking at some downside here pending more news either way.

85 S&P companies reporting this week, PM and KO beat, PM pulled guidance

Yes and June futures just dropped to around $16 this AM. This massacre will keep moving out to future months until we start to it. How can one predict such a market 6 months ago?

One of my investing (trading) newsletters yesterday lamented the fact that while oil literally crashed, the market just kind of blinked. There should be a huge reaction, a sympathetic move, but instead there was just a big yawn. Sure, we're down pre-market this morning, but a 2% move is hardly earth-shattering.

Digress:

I was reading a news story on Yahoo! Finance about this topic, and because I'm foolish, I read some of the comments. Oh so quickly it devolved into political nonsense about crazy liberals, lying doctors and probably rays from outer space (I quit reading after just a few posts) and made me appreciate that here, on this forum, aside from those "how much will my watch be worth next year" threads that are now being banned and closed, we generally have a mature and reasonable discourse.

Thank you guys and gals, for that.

Yes Yahoo is a great source for how to do things wrong

I may move some things around, several positions are getting close to my buy points and I may sell some of the smaller short term positions I have to raise cash as these still have profits

Averaged down into KO and MMM, bought a small position in MO

Watching AXP, GILD and DIS as they are nearing my buy points

DIS lowered to $135 target, it hit $79 as a 52 week low I would take a look at around 85-90 with the stock at $100 right now

I already have KO and MO, bought PM this morning.

MMM although a great company, doesn't have a stellar price chart and the P/E is still kind of high (18). What is/was your motivation for that one?

I like the balance sheet, the dividend is safe at around 4%. I think the stock was hurt with some unwarranted news over masks.

More analysis here

https://seekingalpha.com/article/433...ielding-over-4

I am willing to be patient as I like the contrarian aspect of a solid company.

SWKS is really highly leveraged to AAPL, I have traded it but for me things are too unceratin here

I am familiar with SPLK but I do not own it as it has no dividend and I think the stock is expensive especially in an environment like this where people may not renew subscriptions

As usual, thanks for the input Brian.

I am leaning a bit more towards SWKS.

Welcome, and as always everyone should do their own homework. I have no magic insight or special skills.

Of course - definitely do plenty of research before I jump into things, but also interested to see how forum members have dealt with certain holdings in the past. Appreciate it!

Thanks for the linkie, that was a good read.

It didn't convince me to buy 3M, but I did buy a little GPC. I will, however, keep an eye on MMM because it is a solid company.

Understood, that is why there are always buyers and sellers

Thanks for the advice and I hope we all do well. I'm assuming you are in at a much lower price than the 700s so great job so far! I do think I will go after it with options next.

Well I do not know your plan or goals

I stick with my discipline and sell losers at 10%, I would rather buy back lower or move money to something else

I have a couple limit orders in for GOOGL, FB and PSX today.

Don't own MSFT and have been on the fence about if for awhile...I just can't seem to get over the hump of "how much upside is truly there", regardless of all the analysts' buy recommendations.

Agreed MSFT has gotten pricey, it is a solid company but I had been averaging in and down for several months

I would like to jump in there but I am concerned about all the exposure Berkshire has to COVID-19

Lots of Insurance, Airlines and Energy

Perhaps if the price were lower but with no dividend and a 17 P/E I will pass for now

That has weighed on me as well, but at the very least it gives me some exposure to those sectors without having to invest separately in each company, which right now seems to be the wild west.

Where it all stands in 6 months to a year who knows? But at least I'll have some skin in the game, should things get better.

I don't disagree, just more things on my list that I have cash for
