Looks great Lisa! Not that it helps, but wanted to tell you anyway!

Dawna, I hope you'll post some pics of the rodeoing--not asking for personal stuff, but if you have interesting ones of the ambience, we could pretend we're in the bleachers with ya.

Dawna, those pics are terrific! Your son is a bronc rider - wow! Is it hard to watch? He looks so young - is he in a junior division?

How did he do?

What other events does he compete in?

Thanks for the pics! Looks like a great day.

Thanks Lisa....those bronc pics were from a rodeo earlier in the year when he was in the 14 and under division. He rode all his broncs except one during the season and won 'top hand' since he competes in a lot of events.
Now he has to compete in the 18 and under division and is doing more roping, team penning, and several other events. He will probably want to ride some broncs again later in the year and I'm NOT looking forward to it. I get super nervous.
I have a bunch of photos of the actual bronc rides, but not on my phone and I swear I have a mental block about photobucket!

He has some skills, no doubt! Is he interested in making a career out of rodeo? Hard to imagine kids that young riding broncs - but we're city dwellers and I believe my 8th grader knows one kid who shows cattle through the 4H club. That's as close as we get! Please tell me there's no bull riding... I'm guessing that's for the 18 and up guys.

Would love to see some pics of the actual bronc rides.

And for me. Wow, awesome piccies. Never really thought about how much skill/strength that sort of thing would take. And looks like lots of fun.

It is amazing. Even though I grew up in a ranch family and been around rodeo in all it's forms my whole life (which makes me even more of a nervous momma) these kids impress me on a daily basis. The boys spent the night here last night after a 14 hour day yesterday, got about 4 hours sleep, got up early and are down at the arena practicing for next weekend. Three of them are carrying pre AP course loads in HS school, too, so they have regular school work and other sports to work around. But they do it! I would prefer them all to take up art, music, whatever. It's in their genetics, so I figure at since their parents are all supporting them in what they want to do, we can at least make sure it's done in the safest (relatively speaking) and well supervised way. No bullriding, Lisa! That's another reason we got behind whatever the boys wanted to do in the sport of rodeo early, so we could direct them away from that. Since my husband was a pro bullrider of course they all thought that was really cool and wanted to try it. By building their interest in other areas of the sport early, we have been able to avoid that so far. Knock on wood. The bronc riding is scary too, but not as dangerous. Saddle bronc riding, is also less dangerous than bareback bronc riding. Splitting hairs here, but these are the things I tell myself to calm down. HA

Nah - boys need to be physical. That other stuff is for night time or when they're healing up from being outside and physical.
Your son is impressive. Good for him.

Great pics Dawna. Thanks for putting them up.

Lisa that Date is pretty. My wrist is 6.5", maybe a bit smaller. I usually wear my watches right at the wrist not on the forearm. I don't like my watch dangling like a bracelet would. I probably should have bought a Date because of size. But the DJ I thought was prettier.

I'm very thankful my kids have always preferred the outdoors. Never had any kind of issues with too much tv or video games. Getting them to come inside to eat or go to bed ... another story entirely. Ha

Dawna, I really enjoyed those pics. Thanks for posting them up! I showed them to my 8th grader and she was astounded that kids her age did that kind of thing.
