Lovely picture Art.
Bas…love the pic of the Eiffel tower in the background. :-) I think it looks more magical at night all lit up. :-) Would love to be in Paris! Have fun Bas. Hope Everyone has a great New Years… Here's hoping 2014 kicks some a$$.. |

I was only there for one day, it's a 3.5hour drive from my place, so it's doable as a one day trip. I visit Paris several times a year so it isn't very special to me anymore. I remember how overwhelming it was when I was there the first few times as a kid, great memories. |

Bas…thats awesome though you live that close. I can drive 4 hrs and be in Ottawa…or 3 hrs and be in Detroit..:-( You can be in Paris! I envy that.
Same to you Leo..hope you had a lovely night.. :-) |

Neither city is like Paris. I would go to Ottawa before Detroit. But once you've been to Ottawa, no point going back unless you are going to visit. LOL Ok..my opinion…Ottawa lovers don't bash me!
When I do go through Detroit…I drive fast. |

But now I would much rather go to Canada or the States, but that is a bit expensive. |

I think overall, living in Europe is expensive. I can speak specifically about Italy but not totally sure about the rest of Europe so please excuse my ignorance. My cousin lives in London and when he came to visit in June thought many things here, especially housing, was cheaper than where he was. It depends on where you want to live of course. :-)

I was actually referring to the trip overseas being quite expensive.
Europe can be pretty expensive indeed, especially Norway, Switzerland and the Netherlands (I don't know about Italy), Taxes are incredibly high. |

Im not sure about the trip cost. I know someone going to Italy in a couple weeks and he's paying $850..which isn't bad this time of year. Of course spring (after Easter) and summer mths are much higher.

I already have my plan set for when I'll propose to her but it's not going to happen before we get a place for us and when our hectic schedules and lifestyles get better, with school, road trips and the lack of time we have for each other I prefer to give us the time to get things set before planning anything big.

Carl, I do really understand your position and I felt the same about when Pam and I were living together(in sin mind you)while I finished up College first. But does she at least have an idea of your plans for the two of you to be together...as you do not want her to move on before that day comes.....
While still in school and going into my last year, I proposed to Pam over a game of Backgammon that we would be married the next Summer after I had finished school and had a job to help support our lives together. And lucky for me, she said YES and here we are now more than 35 years later!!! Take care.....Leo

She has no ideas of my plans but she probably knows I have some, I have an idea in mind but who knows, it may change over the years.

Carl, I'm all for 'Living Together' before getting married so this way you can see if you two are really compatible. And you and your Lady will find out if you are when you do live together 24/7. Good luck with your plans with your Lady and sounds to me like you two have a good plan moving forward!!!
Take care.....Leo

Thank you for the kind words everybody.
Judy and all of you who are struggling with extreme cold this morning (that includes you Art...), I hope you're all safe! Today it's about -20 something Celsius our there but with the wind we feel it as if it was -36! This morning while driving my girlfriend to work we saw a car in front of us who, while trying to change lane on the highway, started sliding from one end to the other of the road. He ended up smashing the side of the road, breaking his left back light, before getting back on tracks and breaking. Good news is, a police officer was right behind us so he took care of him or her, it's a good thing we all kept a safe distance but I'm sure that driver got scared.
