I imagine you got sucked into the buzz of owning a Daytona and were persuaded to spend the extra money on jewellery but when you got home it hit you....

If I was you I’d worry more about how someone can make you part with 10k so easily than whether ADs policy is legal/ethical.

True.. diamonds are the worst investment you can make. Unless it's something rare...very rare.

Return that diamond immediately. I’d return it to the same SA. If not, I’m doing a charge back stating they won’t honor their terms.

At the risk of getting flamed. Patek ADs are the same, except the dollars are much, much higher.

Personally, I can't believe that anyone would fall for such a scam.

The AD decided, good or bad, that for someone to buy an in demand SS Rolex they have to have a purchase history. This is entirely up to the AD, and you agreed to it. Personally I hate this practice and had an experience like this with an AD in Houston. I didn’t take the bait, told them I wouldn’t be forced into buying something I didn’t want to get something I wanted, which effectively doubles the price on what I want. Haven’t returned to that AD.

I do find it increasingly interesting that the OP has yet to post a picture of either the Daytona or the diamond he was forced to buy. Maybe include the receipt of the purchase to verify this story?
Hater.

Grady, you’re right. In fact, there’s a lot of questionable points about this fact pattern.

I agree that ideally you'd do that before taking the deal, but honestly I'd still take it and immediately return the diamonds all within an hour. Even if they wouldn't accept the jewelry back, it's still below market value and you have some although heavily depreciated, but still not worthless things. If you tell them in advance, they can just not sell you the watch. But if they sell you the watch and the jewelry and when you immediately want to return the jewelry, they defy their own return policy, you have good grounds for a lawsuit they are going to lose. And if they do end up accepting it back immediately it will school them even more. Sort of: "If you think you are going to play me, think twice, morons. Because in the end it's you who got played." If you just tell no from the beginning, you miss that opportunity.

Verdict is in

Diamond accepted as a full refund and no need to return my Daytona. The VP of the AD approved this and said I did nothing wrong asking for a return that is clearly within their return policy.

We discussed this in length and I agreed to purchase the Daytona with a diamond purchase of 10k or more, that agreement was NEVER violated according to the AD VP. And it’s completely up to me if I choose to return. The bottom line here was my wife did not care for the diamonds and so we returned without any issue.

The AD VP agreed with me here and this is a learning experience for them trying to use Rolex to upsell. They will have to add to and change their official return policy in order to have it their way, which is likely something they don’t want to change considering AD’s get these watches so rarely.

Thanks for all who supported me on here. For those who were enraged, the AD AGREED WITH ME. Happy Rolexing

If taken with IPhone send pic to yourself in email then slide to desktop. Then you can resize and post.

P.S. congrats on winning!

"Custom Orders, special orders, modified, or altered items cannot be returned or exchanged.''

They have a condition issue on the return policy to protect the seller.

Troways, that is the correct return policy as I went over it in length. Thankfully none of my diamond purchases were under custom, altered, special order etc

Sounds to me like you got a Daytona for a bit less than the market price and also got a free $10k set of diamonds thrown in! Make your wife, daughter or mother happy with their beautiful new diamonds, whilst you enjoy the amazing Daytona which you actually got for a pretty good price.
