Using a conversion chart 100 bucks in 72 would be worth about 550 today
which is about right because a new Stratocaster was 225.00-275.00 back in 72 and thats about 1250-1400 today.
A Mustang was considered a beginners guitar back then but I could not afford a Strat or Jaguar which is what I really wanted. Now those Japanese made Mustangs are highly sought after,

Was your guitar something like this? There are only a few listed on Ebay - a couple of Mustang basses, too - and they're selling for quite a bit more than $550.

Dave still gets misty-eyed over the 1970s Gibson S.G. he sold in the '80s to fund another guitar.

Lisa, I enjoyed the video of the girls. They sounded really good.

I'm heading to Buffalo today and you know Art, I might just get on a Southwest flight to Orlando. I'll email you when my flight lands. Nice Pictures. Reminds me of my trip so long ago. I can't wait till my brother and my SIL decide to bring the kids to Disney. Ive already been told Im coming with them for back up.

It snowed overnight. It will be a manageable drive and the highway will be ok. I dont know what Buffalo is like but they always have it worst than us with the lake effect. I have snows on my car & I'll be heading out soon. My stone is waiting for pick up.

No tea for me in the morning. Coffee is the only thing that will get me started. LOL Im on cup #2. Then I should be charged up for my drive.

Wes, I worked with an English guy all week. He is a dirty old man & a colourful person. I learned one thing for sure, he can get away with anything because of his accent. And he wholeheartedly admits to it too! Needless to say...we got along well.

Carl, hope nothing stops you from heading to the cottage. Depending on your company, either you'll come back more tired than you got there or more relaxed than you got there. Either way, have fun.

Have a good day all.
Judy, I have come to know the travel from your neck of the woods. We have two international airports in Orlando. There are cheap flights out of Niagara Falls on the American side to Sanford/Orlando Int airport on Allegiant. Might be worth your brother looking into.

Well here, we have no idea why the rest of the world seems to like a British accent. Especially where I'm from, it's quite gruff.

Actually I really like a a American accent, from the middle or south would you call it? Very cute.

Is that the correct use of that emoticon? I daresay that's the first time I've ever used it.

I'd say so Lisa, you sure know your way around with the street slang...

Now I see we're talking guitars! I still haven't bought a nice 12 string acoustic guitar but a reverse Flying V is always on my list...I know it's not a popular model but I fell in love when I first saw it, what say you?

Interesting how people can polarize when the discussions turn to "Fender" versus "Gibson." My husband has always liked, and collected, both. He says it just depends on what sound you're in the mood for, though with all of the distortion pedals and whatnot it seems like you can get about any sound to come out of either of them!

I love the twang of a Fender Telecaster....the Tele is my all time fav guitar.
The Strat has such a crisp clean sound.....Second fav.
The Jaguar , Mustang, and Jazz I have not played enough anymore to make a call.
I keep my Telecaster in open g tuning and Strat in open e
Its kinda like when I was a kid.....Ford, Chevy Pontiac Buick, Dodge gets the same fanatical response.....or today Harley Davidson
When I walk into a Guitar Center I go right to the Fenders and never even look or play a Gibson.

Very lovely collection, is that an Epiphone Les Paul? I used to have one like that for a left-handed player, the sound of it was amazing.

I have the same feeling on a daily basis...some people around here have some incredibly nice things!

Ah well, money doesn't buy happiness indeed and doesn't make you a better person, I prefer to talk to nice people than rich people...although we have a lot of members here that are both.

Hi All...I dont know anything about guitars, other than the ones shown here are very nice looking. Sorry..thats my only contribution on the subject.

Well..this might not come as a shock...but Im sick again. I have been feeling pretty bad since Friday and last night it hit me pretty good. I was wheezy, hacking up the other lung I didnt hack up in January and just feeling crappy. I got checked, I have pneumonia now. I am SO F'ING tired of being sick! Whatever has been going around, has been relentless. Hope these antibiotics work & fast. Im on night shift tomorrow night, and will have to go in. We are incredibly short staffed.

Oh well...I dont think will be too long before I get to my happy go lucky self. Art, I need that Florida sunshine more than ever now.

Sorry you don't feel well, Judy. I'm lucky in that I just don't get sick, often. But I had a bad cold, flu or something in January that was terrible, I worked through it though. Sore throat, headache, cough, post nasal drip, muscle ache, and could not taste my food. I'm sure if an elderly had what I did it would have not been good. So whatever it is this year it's bad.

It's been very nice, mid 80's. I guess 28 or so to you.

Ugh, Judy. Thank goodness for antibiotics... hope they kick butt. Your work schedule is tough - not much time for rest. Hope you feel better soon.

Wowee, Art. You're good at this!

I was thinking about popping open a tin of smoked oysters to have with some crackers... they're really good on pizza, though. Maybe I should go to the trouble and make one. Nah, too lazy.

Oh - for dinner tonight I'm going to be more ambitious. Baked jalapeno poppers (I'm going to try and duplicate the restaurant kind, without frying them), fresh guacamole, and grilled chicken breasts marinated in cumin, lime juice and diced jalapeno. Rice on the side.

A question for you guys... I love this video; it was Paul Potts' audition on Britain's Got Talent. It's worth a look on its own, but who can tell me more about Simon Cowell's watch? Paul Newman Daytona?

Almost looks like a Breitling but don't know. On AI he used to wear a JLC Master Tourbillion.
