We have an incoming GX550 in Nori Green. Should be here in a few weeks.

I’ve been missing off-roading since selling my Rubicon.

With an 18month old and 6-yr old, this makes more sense than my jeep.

What’s surprising about the new GX is it tows 9000+ lbs.

(Not my pics above, I just think they look sweet).

Congrats!! Once you get it please post more pics and your thoughts. Wifey has a Rubicon right now but we’re looking to upgrade to a bigger SUV so would love to hear what you think of this once you’ve had it a bit

Nori is such a great color I had it on a 22 GX460. I just took delivery of my GX550 last week and it’s been great so far

SWEET! Congratulations. Is that incognito?

Since Lexus is weird and you can’t spec them exactly like you want, I told the dealer either Nori Green or Incognito for an Overtrail Plus. It just so happened a spec we liked was coming in in Nori. Looks so pretty in person.

Ours also will have the roof rack- which I wanted but now I’m hearing the wind noise is excessive? I think it looks awesome and we will use it for camping.

Re: GX550....

We bought a used LX570 with the intent of keeping it forever, 500k miles, etc.

But, the new LC250 and GX550 come out, and now I'm spending way too much time reading about them....

This is earth. I had asked for OT+ in either earth or Nori. I wanted earth but nori is such a good color I would have been happy to get it again.

Roof rack is quiet around town but noisy above 65mph. I do a lot of highway driving so may end up taking it off.

Tough call. I had a 2019 LX570 and loved it. The tech is better in these but those are special trucks and have a bank vault quality to them. I heard there might be an overtrail spec LX600 next year. That would be awesome.

Did you notice how the slats and two vertical lights on the rear are 9 slats, 9 slats, 2 lights? 992.

Yes

Also the font of the "911" is a throw back to the 911SC

There are several Easter Eggs on the 992.

Would love to hear your review on it!? Trading in my G Wagon this year and still deciding what's next for my daily.

Hmm I think it depends on what you’re coming from and what you expect. I am a Japanese SUV nut case having owned 3 4R TRD, LC200, LX570, GX460, 2x Sequoia TRD prior to this. So needless to say I’m a biased fanboy.

This to me is the best of all those vehicles due to the tech finally being decent and the design being the best thing out of Lexus since the LC500.

It drives tall and boxy as it looks. Seats are comfortable. Interior choices are limited with the OT+ whereas the luxury + has leather. Rear seat room is slightly lacking even compared to my wife’s x5.

If you were comfortable with the sacrifices made with the G wagon in terms of ergonomics relative to say a Range Rover etc then you’ll likely have no issues with the ergonomics of the GX. That said, it’s not on the same level as a G wagon and the fit and finish will be apparent as they are roughly half the cost.

With your passion for “raw” cars you may enjoy the ineos grenadier. I had one of those ordered until this was announced it was clear to me I had to have the Lexus.

Thanks Nicholas. Yeah you can tell how much time and effort the Ford engineers put into the exhaust sound. They know how important it is to owners. I got the active valve exhaust option so I can adjust it to quiet mode in my development and go right up to fully open valve track mode on the street. It's a lot of fun

Thank you for taking the time to write that review, very helpful. My back would disagree with you on my passion for raw cars haha, need something more comfortable for a daily and have the fun/raw cars for the weekend. They did a modest redesign on the G for 2025, that might be my best bet, really quite enjoyed my last one.

The G is a great choice, depending on the subtle changes, a ‘25 might be worth waiting for ?
We have the ‘23 G and I recently acquired the ‘24 RRS.
If picking only one between these two, for me, it would depend on use.
If I were taking longer more frequent trips, drives to work, vacations, truly driving it a lot, etc… I’d probably go RRS.
In a situation where mostly… the trips are shorter , either to work, hopping around town, an occasional long trip, etc…, the wow factor of the GWagon would be tough to pass up personally.
As for the RRS in the configuration I have, (all the bells & whistles) ….
the inside fit/finish quality is really really good IMO, the seats are very comfortable, adjustable in a million different ways, it is very quiet inside even on the hwy at speed, the tech is ahead of the G (although no physical buttons now in ‘24), and I personally love the new slightly different outside styling and size vs previous generation.
The G is what it is, and I really like it! It has everything you’d need and styling is a WOW, if you like that kind of look. The fit and finish/quality inside is very nice as you know. Although I’d say a bit brutish and less refined all around than the RR. However..that’s the point and heritage of the GWagon.
Don’t know if that helps, but at least a perspective on these two vehicles
