Rolex crown on sapphire

Is the Rolex crown mark on sapphire done world wide or just for the US market? And when was this practice started?

None of mine have any mark on the sapphire. Except for two Daytonas, all were bought locally from Hong Kong AD.

Its world wide, all except the GV, and I think it started around 2002..

True, even the replacement crystals have them - modified with an 'S' in the crown for serviced.

Thanks, you guys are right.

I guess I was not looking correctly. Today I took my watches out and with the light reflecting in just the right direction I can barely make out a faint tiny little mark. Had to really squint to see it. Sheesh need new glasses or a loupe.

I guess starting in 2002 sounds about right too. My 16710 GMT II from around that time had it too.

Thanks again.

I just bought a 20X loop (eBay) with little LED lights that works great. You can see the coronet in the crystal with this one. =) maverick

I don't see the crown on my newly bought Subdate V series. Or is it because i can't see it, not because it doesn't exist?
