There is a local guy that Is doing pvd coatings. Very high quality. He is doing knives and gun's ect. He did a cheap eco-drive watch and it looked GREAT!!. I am thinking about doing my DSSD or maby a SUB in the PVD coating. It would looking something like the pro-hunter. There is a used sub Head only I can pick up for about $2850. I would use a nice aftermarket band no point in spending a 1000 for a band that is going to be coated. or maby a nylon strap like the bond Sub. Its in fair condition and would make a good prospect for modification. I am just wondering what every one thinks about the PVD, Black, and prohunter's. I know its not original but I think it looks cool. Also has any one seen a Genuine Used Pro-hunter on the market.

If you like it, that deal might just be the way to go. Couldn't see taking a new(er) one, complete, but as you said, the head and a strap, might be a different project. Everyone is different, and seems like that look catches your eye. Good luck!

PVD is an ok method for surface treatment, but I would prefer DLC, diamond like coating. More expensive but will most likely be more durable.

I have a Japan-domestic-market Seiko titanium with Diashield coating. It works great and gives the metal a smooth, silky feeling.

Just wondering how deep a scratch is needed on a PVD coated surface to reveal the underlying metal?
Wouldn't it be very unsightly?

It looks and wears great!!! I wouldn't do it to more than 1 Rolex, or to my only Rolex. But, if you have several Rolex watches to wear........and you have some stones.......I say go for it.

I don't have enough watches to consider it. But if I could pick up a less expensive Sub or SD, I wouldn't mind a watch like Jason's. I think it looks sharp and it's different. But I'm still in the accumulation phaze and am not quite there yet.

Just be patient, and save your shekels. It does help to have a 2nd 16600. My other SeaDweller is an M-serial in MINT condition. That one will stay completely factory correct

How difficult it is to take it off??? because from what I am seeing, your resale value just dropped 50% ....

Whilst I like the look I would not spend more than $200 on one as within a short time it starts to wear, I have even seen this on the so-called hi tech coatings , usually after a year the ridges start to show base metal and the bracelt as well.

Then it just looks awful..To me. Now if they could find a way like with analine dye of leather for the steel to absorb the black all the way through that would be stunning!
I love the Seadweller above, it really does look stunning but I would just be waiting for the first blemish..Ah the pains of being OCD!

Second...........everyone is always so interested in resale value.

I could care less about the resale value of my Rolexes because I will never part with any of them.

I bought them to wear, and I will always keep all of them. My only plan is to add more
