Oceanus

Anyone know anything about them? I know they are Citizen brand. Dad's Citizen watch died on him and I want to get him sometime to hold him over (see below). But I fly alot and I keep seeing ads for these in the flight mags. Does anyone know if they are sapphire crystal? I know they are atomic.

Dad's was a previous gen Flight Hawk (?) model; the E-6 flight computer has about worn off. I am thinking of buying him a Fortis chronograph or Oris, or perhaps a Speedy one day.

But for now... Oceanus?

Some of them are sapphire. Depending which market you are based in, there are some models that may not be available to you. The price can go up to about USD$1500 for the high end ones with sapphire, 5 motors, atomic time and special polishing etc. There are some websites originating in Japan that sell them online...but I forget the URL now.

Actually, it`s Casio`s upper market brand...and I heard that these watches are real technological marvels in their own way.

I personally REALLY like the Oceanus range. At one point I was very keen on getting one, but the price put me a little off. Here is a site which provides some more info:
http://www.casio-oceanus-watch.com/

Mods - its an online retailer which I have no affiliation with.

I haven't seen one in the flesh, but I know that some of them at least are genuinely Made in Japan - as opposed to the general G Shock line up made elsewhere. Some of the Oceanus models have anti reflective coating, sapphire, ceramic, special polishing, etc etc. At up to USD$1600 its certainly quite pricey, but you get a bag load of technical marvel. I just wonder though what the servicing intervals/costs are like as they do have a mechanical motor/wheels inside.
