Winding Question - yet again!

Just bought a new GMT IIc, which I love, but after wearing it for a day, it's stopped the next morning. I realize it needs to be wound - checked the forum, but can't seem to get a straight answer on this. Do you wind it around 40-45 times? If so, both clockwise AND counterclockwise or only one direction? If so, which. I'm assuming once wound if worn daily, winding is not needed, correct? Easy questions I hope - I appreciate the input.

When using the crown to wind a Rolex, it only winds in one direction...Clockwise; 40 should be just fine..

The rotor inside will wind in either direction and keep it topped up if you are somewhat active and keep it on for 10 to 12 hours...

Top it off once a week if you wear it daily!

Ummmmmm...as long as I wear mine every day or every-other day it stays wound just fine via the auto-winder mechanism. Meaning, no need to hand wind.

Would agree but a top up wind say once a week will only do good keeps the winding stem mechanism lubricated.

Great! I never knew that, I'll make sure and do it from now on. Thanks!

Well yes all automatic Rolex watches can be manual wound, to fully wind a stopped watch.Unscrew winding crown and wind around 40 full crown turns clockwise only and you cannot overwind it.

The only automatic I can think of offhand that can't be hand wound is the Seiko 5.

Geez, Larry, that Seiko brings back memories. What year is that from? Very cool.

I've got this 1970's TV screen Seiko (also 17J) which I also think cannot be hand wound - (or at least nothing seems to happen when I try)

Can't open the case to determine the movement. Hmmm.
