Love the 149, also intriged by the right most classic ballpen. The cap looks like a barley, but the body is shiny...

Alternatively the cap can be carbon steel, but it has the "special" top cap ring - either the 75th or last year's Unicef.
I don't think they had carbon steel back in 1999 but also don't think they released an all metal pen for last year's Unicef... Intriging...

I have an uninked 149 broad nib. Ive read so many times that the broad nib is way too thick and pours out too much ink. I was almost convinced it was a hasty decision. Afrer viewing your script it looks to be a perfect size!

IMHO nothing could be further from the truth, at least to me the 'B' Montblanc is a little on the thin line side, but then I prefer the triple broad

The B is perfect for the 149.I would pick a M or B for a slightly thinner 146.

I purchased my 149 for under 200 in the late 80's the gold sticker is 280. What is the going rate for a new 149 today?

In the UK they are £490 which is about $750.

They are going for $598 USD through the Fountain Pen Hospital. Retail is $760 USD.

Mine is the ballpoint.I use a medium refill in it.It scratches easily,but the polishing cloth that comes with works great !! Cape Cod also !! Lovely metal shine on those pens !!

How do you like the Boheme ballpoints? Im guessing you are a big fan because you have 2, but Im still curious. I love the Boheme Rollerballs and have been thinking about adding a BP. Thanks again for sharing!

Hmmmm,the best writes with a braod refil is the Meisterstuck Le Grande and with a medium refil the Silver Fibre.The Cool Blue is also nice.Very nice looking pen !! I use a broad refill in it.

I've never tried an oblique pen either, but would love to learn to write with one of those as well. I just received a postcard and the "character" of the line with the OB nib the writer used was intriguing.

I feel the larger the pen the larger the nib.If you go for a 149 sized pen,a broad or at least a medium nib will do.

Oblique nib .....one I want to try for the future !!
