1974 Submariner no Date,

I saw this on a fellow co-worker... Bought in 1974. The Bezel was faded, The watch looked like it had water damage but was functioning. The Sub had no Date...

Can somebody lead me the way of a range of value and what kind of sub it is? He paid $250 in 1974.

Thanks

If its a Rolex its either a 5512 or 5513 Submariner. The 5513 has 2 lines the 5512 has 4 lines of text under the hands. As for value you will have to do some leg work here look at closed transactions of similar watches. As for the water damage you would have to post a pic as it just might be aged well.

Couple things to consider:

1) Pics would help a lot to determine value. Additional info such as whether it still has original box, guarantee papers, booklets, etc. also would be helpful.
2) You'd be better off posting this in the Vintage subforum.

That being said, your friend has either a 5513 or 5512 Submariner. A decent shot of the dial would narrow it down to one or the other.

It is a 5512 or a 5513, with a 1520 movement, both are a desired watch by collectors, now the water damage is not good and it needs to be serviced before it is totally destroyed and the watch will cost alot to repair.

Prices are based on the condition of the watch and if everything is authentic Rolex for that time. If it has been sent to a AD for service as per Rolex.

For example, when the watch has a different dial than when it came from the factory it would not be worth as much or if it has been redone.

It may be running but for how long, I just picked up a Airking and it was running however the movement had a spot of rust and it needed cleaning. I just wanted the movement and now the watch repair guy has had a struggle with two rusted screws however the rest of the movement is in good shape. The screw's that were rusted had to be the the ones that holds the movement and the dial into the case.
