50 yr. Anniv. Submariner
A friend of mine wants to try to buy a 50th anniversary submariner that new in box with warranty card. Since it was from 2003 I can't expect to find one that hasn't been registered with Rolex can I?
Thanks in advance.

None of them are registered with Rolex. I bought one NIB from an AD a few weeks ago if thats what you mean. There are still some out there.

Any pointers as to where to look? I'm guessing that the price range from a dealer would run me around $5600 to $6400 (USD), right?

There`s a few at the sales corner.
You might be able to track down a 16610 LV new at AD`s, but they`re hard to find. Regards.. |

I'm not sure that you will find one from 2003...
However, millions of LV Subs have been made in the past 7 years and many of the Dealers in my area have them in the display case........

Are the LV subs the ones with the green bezel and black face? If yes, I just need contact information to pass to my friend so he can make arrangements for payment/shipment. What's the going rate for the LV sub from a dealer?

This will be greta news for him.
What was the last year of production now that we don't have to look for the 2003 year model?

There are still some left in Rolex dealers to be had brand new, they've effectively only just stopped making them, last LV's will be on the V serial numbers, I don't think there's any on the new 2010 random number serials..??

Rolex have made billions of them over the last so many years. You are bound to find a 2003 model, just keep looking.

Sure there are LV with new serial no. I bought myself one last Tuesday with the new random serial no, it was delivered to the AD in Amsterdam och I got it almost the same day! Best watch ever, love it!

I doubt very much that millions of Sub LV's have been made. If Rolex makes about a million watches a year and the LV has been made for roughly seven years, 1/7 of all Rolex watches produced in that seven years would have to be LV's just to get to one million. I bet it's nowhere close to that. I'd think it would be more in line of maybe 100,000 or less.

IMO the Anniversary LV was only ever the first year's YG model. The SS model was never advertised by Rolex as a 50th Anniversary LV.

Rolex make 850,000 watches a year across their complete range. LVs accounted for approx 1-2% of this output - let's say 12,500. 12,500 X the amount of years Rolex made the LV (1,000,000) That's 12.5 billion LVs out there and you can take that to the Lehmans bank.

FWIW, when I got mine 2 years ago the AD told me he never knows when they're going to send him one, they just show up. He also said he got one LV for every 6 or 10 regular stainless Subs.
