Icon20 Hello! New to the Forum

Hello to fellow watch lovers! Can't tell you how much pleasure I've gotten from reading your posts. Hope I can contribute something of interest occasionally. I own a vintage SS/GMT from the 60's. Bought it used from an AD some years ago. However I've decided to reward myself with at least one new one in my life. Thanks to all of your posts, I've pretty much decided on a 16610 Sub. Talked to my AD by phone but he won't discuss price until I visit. Hope to get him down a bit. I'm tempted to buy from a out state AD and save the tax but am a bit leary. Any opinions?

hello to new friends!

Just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed reading all your posts and how proud I am to be a member. I've been obsessed with Rolex watches for years almost to the point of self committal (but they confiscate your watch). Seriously, I'm happy to know that I'm not alone in my obsession. I own a vintage SS GMT but am getting ready to buy my first new watch. Thanks largely to the input on this forum, I'm pretty much set on a 16610 Sub. Let you know what happens. Again, thanks for the opportunity to chat with new friends about our common interest!

Hi David, and a big welcome to TRF. We'd love to see photos of your GMT, and congrats on deciding on the Submariner. You can't go wrong there!

Pics of that baby when you get it would be fantastic as well. Cheers...

Welcome Watchnut. Glad to have you.

My opinion - buy the watch where you plan to have it looked after, and/or where you have your SS/GMT looked after. Develop a relationship with your salesperson. If the next state over is close enough for that - so be it! Otherwise, take the tax hit, and keep your dollars close to home.
